Upgrade problems with 1.2 T-bird

Hey everyone. Yesterday I went through the process of upgrading my Athlon 700 to a 1.2 gig T-bird. I'm using the Asus A7V133 motherboard. I have been able to format the hard drive BUT...it won't let me use the windows startup disk to put windows back on. I suspected that the cable might have been on backwards because the floppy light stayed on the whole time so I changed it. Now it comes on and acts as though it tries to read the floppy drive and then the light goes off and it won't do anything else. If I hit the space bar a few times the floppy drive light comes back on and it continues to "read" the disk....but....still nothing. I don't have anything in the computer but a DVD drive, hard drive, and my new Radeon LE video card. Got any suggestions? I'm going to try a few more things tonight when I get home but I really don't know what the problem could be. My hard drive is not an ATA100 drive and I also get the "no ATA100 drives detected" message but it goes on past that. I know that when I first booted the computer it booted at 900 mhz....and sometimes if I just turn off the power, it reverts back to 900 mhz.....rather than 1.2 gig 266 fsb. I would like to get this lined out as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!

You might still have the cable upside down (on both ends) and make sure the drive is on the end with the twist.

Try a BIOS clear. Use the jumper on the board to "clear CMOS" or whatever they want to call it. Your processor upgrade means that the BIOS needs to re-detect a lot of settings.

Don't you hate floppy drive cables?

My other motherboard was a K7V so the bios settings should be ok, I would think. I'll check more tonight when I get home. Yes, floppy drive cables tend to be a pain. :) Thanks for the help!
