I hate it when that happens to me!

Sorry, I just bought a 1.4 200mhz t-bird today to replace my 800. brought it home and thought it should be rather easy to in stall because I have an ABIT KT7-RAID which is jumperless and should be easy to set up a new processor. any way installed the new CPU, went to bios and set the new CPU speed, and saved and restarted and it wouldn't post. last week when preparing for the new CPU I flashed my bios with the news update and with the newest via drivers. Any sugestions on what is going on and why?

what kind of power supply do you have? maybe it can't handle the 1400's power requirements...

did you upgrade your cpu fan as well? if not, does your fan support up to 1400?

If your PSU is only 200-250w then it might not be man enough for the job. I would also imagine that your fan might not be good enough either, the 1.4ghz does give out quite a bit of heat.

let's hope it's the power supply!....after all, an Athlon without any heatsink can cook itself in a few seconds, i'm not sure what say a maximum 1000mhz rated fan on a 1.4ghz cpu you would do, I would have thought it would just get damn hot.

Do you get anything up, even the old Award Bootblock Bios 1.0. Also, the Abit does require the cpu fan to be connected to Fan1 in order for it to boot up 😉

I bought the retail version so I got a HSF with the CPU, However the Power Supply may be a problem, it is the stock one that came with the hp "case" I have. I will look into that. thanks guys
