upgrade performance?

im thinking about upgrading my p4 1.8a 400mhz to a athlon 64 3000. im pulling everything from my old system ( 200&80GB HD PATAs, radeon 9500pro 128, 2x 512 pc3200 DDR ram, and SBlive card)

how much of a performance increase will i see w/ this upgrade? i play alot of games and i need a new motherboard as well. the two im looking at are the asus K8N and K8V-X by asus. i dont have $ to buy a new pcix video card so these two have agp slots.

questions:
what is northbridge? k8n has nforce 3 250 and the k8v-x has the via k8t800. which one is better?

will i see a big performance increase compared to agp and pci-x?

is pata to sata a big performance increase? what is RAID?
 
Dude Athlon is teh difference. You will definitely see a difference in playing games. plus if you do get a 3000 it will smoke the p4 you had. I say you do it.
