Upgrade Parts Help Pls ^^

My main use for my PC is playing games like World of Warcraft, Civilization, Spore, and the SIMS 3.

In world of Warcraft I have noticed a lot of lagging in popular spots.

I want to upgrade as much as possible as cheaply as possible.

I have a
DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 SLI-DR Socket 939
AMD 64 3800+ Socket 939 512K 2MHz
BFG 7800 GT OC Nvidia GeForce
and 2GB RAM

I figure I should go to 3, 4GB RAM and a better video card, any processor suggestions as well?
I don't overclock myself.

Thanks.

You have DDR-1, and you already have 2 GB of it so I'd stay put. Is that a single core 3800+? Dual-core would help WoW but used 939 x2 are overpriced compared to a new AM2+ or intel core 2.

A great upgrade would be:
$50-75 - Cheap motherboard
$50 - 4 GB DDR2
$100-150 - dual-core AMD or intel
$75-100 - ATI 4850 video

>> what are the specs on your PSU?

option 2 if you're currently single-core (not 3800+ x2)
$60-100 - a64 939 x2 3800+ - 4200+ used, try FS/FT forum here before eBay
$75-100 - ATI 4850

That looks like a nice budget combo from yh125d, and you can get back some money by selling your CPU, mb and DDR1.

I'd spend a little extra and get a 4850 or 4870 videocard, newegg has several 4850s for $100 and the Hot Deals forum has had them as low as $65 with Bing cashback.

Is this one OK?-

Sapphire 4850

I just hope it fits Ok in my Cooler Master CAVALIER 3 mid-tower case.
Thanks again 🙂

Make sure you check the dimensions of the card and measure the case to save yourself any hassle of RMAing. Remember that even if it will fit in the case, see if it will fit the motherboard and if it will cover up any needed ports on the board. Lots of people don't realize until they install a card that it ends up blocking half of the sata ports on the board. Bad if you use them!

My biggest concern with that particular card is there is not two DVI outs. It has one DVI, one HDMI, and one D-SUB. As long as that fits your needs it is good!

Looks like your PSU has the 6 pin PCIE power connector so all should be good.
