Here is what i posted on another forum but did not receive much help, thought i'd give this one a shot"

So i've had my mb and cpu for about a year. I didn't do any real reserach when i got it, i just got any old pci-e so i could put my new 7800gt when i got it.
I have P5ND2-Sli:

I thought I got duel core processor, but looking at everest, it doesn't look it. intel p 4 3.06 GHz and a FSB of 533 MHz.

I was telling my friend i was possibly intered in upgrading and he told me h waited too late. He said i should probably wait about 9 months for the next generation to come out or something? pls let me know what you guys think
 
like it's been said before, there's always the next generation around the corner. I guess he was probably referring to the new AMD line coming out around summertime.

I don't know what you use the computer for or what your needs are or what your budget is, but I can give my quick advice.

If you really need it now, just upgrade to the Core2Duo platform. If not (and money is an issue), wait for the price drops on them around the end of January and do it then. I wouldn't wait 9mo though.
 
well i'm a college student, so i use it for school and of course gaming,lol. but ya it's not crucial atm, was just thinking about it. so what's happening around the end of January to make the prices go down?

Intel is cutting prices across the C2D line at that time. If I find the link I'll post it up. I'd just say wait till end of Jan then. There will also be more boards out by then too for you.

Maybe I got it wrong but it seems like new processors in Q1 07 and price cuts in Q2. I could swear I saw something with price cuts in Q1 though. Can anyone clarify that?
