I haven't upgraded my system in awhile so I don't know what the requirements are.
1. Can I use a SATA 3gb hard drive with a SATA 1.5gb pci expansion card?
2. Do I need more than a 300W PSU for a SATA hard drive?
3. How many watt PSU should I get for a AMD 939 socket system?

Yes. Drives no not come anywhere close to saturating that bus.

Depends. Hard drives don't use much power but 300W isn't much.

Need spec list, especially processor and graphics card. BTW - you know the wattage ratings mean very little, right? Like a $60 300W supply will power systems that a $20 300W will not. And the $20 one is much more likely to explode too.

Enermax, Forton/FSP, Seasonic, Enhance, PCP&C, are good brands. I'm sure there are others.

Post your full system specs here along with your PSU, then your full specs AFTER you upgrade.
 
My current setup is in my signature. This is what I want to upgrade:
a 939 socket AMD motherboard w/ Athlon 64 2.0 gig
nVidia geforce 7300GT video
Western Digital 160gb sata 3gb/s HD
Everything else I want to keep. So what do you guys recommend for the PSU?
 
Thanks for your help. I'm glad I didn't go for one of the cheaper ones I see in the ads. I might go for a 500W PSU just so I don't have to go through this again in a couple years, but I will definately stick with those brands.
