Upgrade from Window 8 to window 10 a few month ago, about to rebuild, advice

Ok, long story short, I do the update from window 8 to 10 a few month ago and it is been good. I am about to do do a rebuild and change motherboard and cpu. What steps should I take to reinstall window 10 as painless as possible?

If it's a retail Windows 8, then re-install on the new hardware, and then use it to re-install 10 on the new hardware. (Or use the updated version of the Win10 install ISOs to install directly with the Windows 8 key.)

They release an update to the ISO/Windows back in November, that will allow you to install Win 10 fresh and use your previous windows 7/8.1 key to install/activate it.

If you made the iso with the MS Media Creation tool after November 2015, then you will have the updated ISO

As for the technet key, they are classed as retail I believe, but it does not matter anymore as you are only allowed to use them only if your subscription is active, which is no longer the case as they had closed it down more than a year ago

Since we don't know what the hardware is, just build, boot, and see what happens. It may have no problem discovering new hardware and activating with what you have. Many are reporting that 10 is very good with hardware detection (it's the latest OS, so it should be anyway).

Worst case is you will do a fresh install and activate with your 8 key.

I know technet is down but all the key i used are still functional, including a window 7 key a year ago.

Actually here is the interesting thing. I use one fo those product key finder.

in one of them, it show my internet explorer have my window 8 key but the window 10 pro key is different

I also try magical jelly bean keyfinder, it give me the same window 10 key as the produkey
