On the task bar there is Nvida settings and looking through it has a selection for image settings. I didnt know it offered the oportunity to select performance level. cool...
Anyway, pretty happy so far.
Very nice choice - that's definately one of the fastest cards out there.

ATI is the leader right now.. go with them, thats all there is to it... I would rather have a 9600 pro than a 5900........ i always think in HL2 terms, biggest game of the friggin century... u have to keep it in mind. And nvidia has crap for DX9 cards
Although I agree with you that I'd rather have a top of the line ATI card (ie 9800) over the Nvidia offering (ie 5900), for the money, you can't beat the $200 5900.
Also, HL2 is one game, and more importantly not out until April. This is a big issue. I agree, HL2 does look like the game of the century for PC (or at least, in the top 10 - and we haven't even seen the final build yet; it's just so dang impressive), however by April, there will be newer and better cards out, or right about to be released. At the current framerates cards are getting on HL2 betas (ie 40-60 fps) I myself would not be happy, seeing as they would most likely dip into the 20's during intense firefights.
The 5900 is proven to be (in pretty much all modern games) within 10% of the ATI cards. Yes, the DX9 performance is lacking from what we've seen so far, however Nvidia has done some performance optimizations recently (as DX9 benchies are showing). Also, for all current games, the 5900 is king (or maybe more correctly, Queen
😉 ), right up there with the 9800 series.
About getting the 9600 - forget it. The 5900 blows the 9600 out of the water in anything out there. As for HL2, it's wait-and-see. I've seen the preliminary benchmarks and neither card looks to be very good for HL2. And as said above, in anything else, you will feel like a dumbass for buying the 9600. Especially since the 9600Pro is only something like 10% faster than the Ti4200 he's replacing.
