I work for a small ISP, and we also have a parts store, and do system builds occasionally. I was looking at our distrubutors page making an order, and I noticed that the updated price on the Athlon64 X2 4800+ chips have dropped to $261 (our cost). I can get everything through work at cost, just asking if you all think it would be a good last upgrade for this machine before making a socket/motherboard/memory change? My system specs now can be found in my sig.

I have not had a chance to play with any X2 systems, so I do not know how they perform compared to my chip.

Thanks.

errrm.. i doubt it'd be much a difference for you to go dual core. a 4000+ is already at peak in terms of Utilization for games, and what not. dual core will help with certain specific things like multitasking and adobe progs, but,, that does not justify the expense.

and u can likely get to 2.7-2.8 on a 4000+,

Dual core useless, if u don't ACTUALLY use it, Frames increase in games is like,,, nothing. and there comes with hassles , as there are still compat issues with dual core.

THOUGH i would buy from ur company and sell it to others.
