Early launch reviews clearly favored the 1060, but AMD has gained quite a bit since then in driver improvements and tweaks. Not to mention (mostly) superior DX12 and Vulkan support. Today, in modern titles, they're effectively even. Promising stuff for the future of the 470/480.Thanks, guys. I have now decided to jump on the RX470. I'll look into overclocking it as well to maximise the potential.
I'm surprised there are more RX480 supporters (over the 1060) than I expected as most of the reviews out there seem to favour the nVidia.

The rx470 is pretty meh at that resolution...it cant even run most aaa 1080p games maxed out let alone at 1600p...a true upgrade would have been a gtx1070...Thanks, guys. I have now decided to jump on the RX470. I'll look into overclocking it as well to maximise the potential.

Based on reviews, it looks to be a decent performer at 1600p, depending on the game. The rx470 is pretty meh at that resolution...it cant even run most aaa 1080p games maxed out let alone at 1600p...a true upgrade would have been a gtx1070...
