My rig is E6300 (L2: 2M, 45nm, stock @2.8G) now, and I consider to upgrade to Q9450(L2, 12M, 45nm, stock @2.66G). Is it worth for me? Most of the usage for me is gaming, I have no requirement for encoding or drawing. I think taht maybe upgrade to quad cores can last me for a while. What I really worried is my PSU and MB, especially the
weak PSU.My rig in detail as following...

RAM: DDR2 800 2G x2
Mobo:GA-965P-DS3 (Rev3.3)
PSU: Sea sonic S12 430W.
VGA: Asus GTS250-512MB.

Maybe I need to get more powerful PSU or MB for my new quad cores.
Could you give me some advices? Really thanks.

unless you also plan on getting a much faster gpu then there is no need for a faster cpu at this point.

Thanks for your replies. I run 1900x1200 with 24 inches monitor.
Maybe get a GTX260 above is more suitable for me.^_^

i think so too. at that res, you are not really cpu limited by that much. the gpu is more likely holding you back.
