I want to upgrade from my 9600xt-vio 256mb DDR.

What's gonna be the best thing to get to see a noticeable difference in say... doom 3.. or HL2?
Anything around $200?

probably an agp 6600 gt...since it just came out it's a bit over 200 I believe but you will see a noticeable difference with a great midrange card. If you want to stick with ATI, 9800 pros can be had for right at 200. They're still awesome cards imo and you will see a noticeable increase in fps and performance.
 
Well I just got done averaging the results from Anands benchies and the 6600GT pulls a %24 lead, and they both will be around $200. You figure out what that means. 😉
