It will be a nice step up for my AM2 setup I believe.

My only concern is the southbridge chip for my Biostar Tforce 550 motherboard
is directly in line with the PCIe slot. The length of the 8800gt will place the GT
heatpipes directly over the southbridge chipset HSF.

The chipset for the nforce 550 on this board gets "melt your face" hot.

My case has a mesh grille for the front, and a 120mm fan in the rear, with an 80mm
fan pulling air in the front over my hard disks and is uncluttered.

I'm just hoping that the 8800gt and southbridge don't cook each other.

No problems with my current passively cooled 7600gs but I'm assuming the 8800gt
is going to be a bit warmer.

X fingers - package arrives tonight/tomorrow.

Edit - Perhaps I should get a PCI slot fan...

Just to follow up -

Installation without a hitch, the 8800gt fits perfectly in my board, PCB stopping one inch
short of my IDE cables. FSP400 400w power supply with 29v on 2x12v rail has no issues
powering the GT.

No problems with anything except my 5000+ which is overheating to 65 in 3DMARK and
62 after an hour or so of Bioshock.

The 8800gt is a noticeable improvement over my 7600gs, eating anything and everything
I throw at it with full AA and AF - 1680x1050.

Runs idle at 45 - load at 55.

Appreciate all the help - I think this was the optimal upgrade for me.
