Upgrade fans on 212+ or new cooler?

Currently have a 2600k not overclocked with a hyper 212+ stock fans in a P182. When using lightroom/games, CPU Fans spin up loud enough that I am thinking about either changing out the fans, or getting a new cooler entirely like a DH14. What would you do?

Get new fans. Find quiet fans like Corsair AP-120, Scythe Gentle Typhoons or similiarly rated quiet fans.

Getting a bigger block like a D14 might be quieter due to having a larger passive cooling component, putting less importance on the fans, but I don't think it's big enough to warrant a $80 upgrade. Maximum cooling performance is within 10°C. You could also consider an AIO water cooler with quiet fans, too.

Do you have 2 fans in push/pull?

For my 212+ Evo, I initially only had 1 (for push), then got a 2nd one to match (now push/pull). Then I got a good deal on 2 x Cougar Vortex 120mm fans (orange) - I can provide a pic if you like 😛

I was tempted to forgo the whole thing and get a Corsair H60 (can get on sale for $30). But hmmmmmmm..... 😛

I am using 2 fans in a push pull configuration.

Yes, those. Do note that these are 3-pin fans, which means they don't support PWM control. If your CPU header doesn't have 3-pin fan support then you'll be running 100% all the time, which is a moot point.

The Cougar Vortex 120mm does come in a PWM version, and goes for as low as $8 on sale (with targeted coupon).

They are also quite well reviewed. Keep an eye on the Hot Deals section for these, as they go on sale all the time.

Highly recommend PWM fans!

Thanks for the recommendations AkumaX and Eureka. Got the new fan today and it has made a tremendous difference, as well as a drop in temps. Now I just have to find new case fans.

... Are your case fans not 120mm? If they are all 120mm case fans, I think you already know the answer.
