upgrade dillema (mobo or ssd or procie)

hi guys,

i will be able to upgrade my system next month and i need help from all of you experts....

My system:
Intel Core i3 2100
8GB DDR3-1600 cl8 @ DDR-1333 cl7
Gigabyte H61M-D2-B3
Asus Geforce GTX 560 Ti top
Corsair HX620
WD Caviar Blue 500GB and WD Green 1TB

I would want to increase my FPS in games... that is my upgrade goal

my chosen upgrade options:
a.) upgrade motherboard to Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3-iSSD (since im only using H61... will there be dramatic fps increase? plus i can use intel srt)

b.) patriot wildfire 120gb SSD - im sure this will improve my overall system performance... but fps in games?

c.) intel core i5 2500K - most likely this will increase my fps but how about power consumption?

I can only choose one upgrade option. Or do you have better suggestions? Please help. Thanks in advance!!!!

SSD will not increase your FPS. A SSD would improve your loading times and general OS responsiveness greatly, but not FPS.
Upgrading MB will scarsely affect your FPS at all. It might, but we're talking < 1%.
You have a relatively weak processor. Depending on games you play, upgrading it will definitely result in higher FPS.
Your gfx card isn't bad. It should provide plenty FPS unless you're running 2560x1600. I didn't see any monitor specs there. I'm assuming you're connecting the monitor through gfx card, not onboard graphics.

So given these options, I'd go for proc.

Go for a 2500K. When you get another opportunity to upgrade, get a mobo that allows you to OC the 2500K (P67/Z68). Power consumption is not an issue. The system won't even draw 350W when gaming with an OC'd 2500K and 560 ti. I have an i7 920 which uses a lot more power, a 560 Ti at 1000Mhz, and a ton of case fans. In 3Dmark vantage, I get around 330W. If you tried really hard by running simultaneous furmark and prime95 it might go over 400W but that's still nothing to worry about.

FYI: 2500k vs 2100 anandtech bench: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=289

edit: Another idea though... Your FPS in games would benefit easily the most from a next gen video card. i3 2100 is a fast CPU, it shouldn't bottleneck the 28nm GPUs that are due to arrive in the following months.

As mentioned above, SSD or a motherboard (by itself) will not help FPS. The i3-2100 is probably what is holding you back but we need more information.

What games, what resolution?

Thanks for the reply guys. BTW, monitor is on 1920x1080 resolution. I play crysis 2 and anticipating BF3.

So i will go for the processor then.... Thanks again guys!

A gaming rig is going to benefit from more transistor processing power rather than higher quality storage.

An SSD is going to improve general productivity of your machine and is somethng I would recommend for an office machine due to the time savings in loading of applications.

A gaming rig will benefit from SSD performance but it wont give you more FPS. It just cuts down on map loading and computer boot times due to the faster transfer of data from storage to RAM. Once its in RAM, it wont likely request much more data from your storage device and your game level, or, system program will mostly run from there.
