Hey guys
I sold my computer to a friend, and he is wanting to upgrade it to make a certain game run better
I am not very good with the upgrades in terms of knowing what will make the best performance

Currently, the system is as follows
AMD Athlon XP 2100
256RAM
80gb HDD
64MB GeForce4 MX440 GFX Card
Giga-byte GA-7VAXP

Basically, can someone please tell me what would be the best things to upgrade to make a game work faster. Would it be the video card?

Thanks

An entire new system... but it really depends on what games he's trying to run. Many of the late games won't run very well on that system, if at all i.e hl2.

For a minimalist upgrade, I'd add:

-at least another 256meg of DDR, should be able to trade or sell the GF4MX card to cover the cost
-add a new video card as your budget allows, $50 Ti4200/8500, $100 9600/9700/5900??, $150 9800

Also, if you know what your doing, try to tweak the mobo and 2100. I used to have a 2100 that would do 2.2-2.3ghz. Also, if the cpu is multi unlocked, tweak for the fastest fsb possible. Since it's a Kt400, what the pci bus speed. Try lowering the multi and upping the fsb to 166 or 200 and don't deviate too far from those fsb speeds. Try keeping the ram insynch with the fsb. All of the tweaks are free, so do a little research and give them a shot.
