Upgrade card?

Hi all

I currently have a PIII 866@911, 512PC133 RAM and an Radeon 7200. I have a new motherboard, MSI 648 Max and 512 PC2700 RAM. All I need to finish my upgrade is a P4 2.8 and new power supply.

But, due to limited money, I need to know should I upgrade my video card in my current system or should I simply get my last two components and go with my newer system, but using my original card. I plan to replace the 7200 with a 9800Pro 256 later on.

not to start a flame war here, but anand's benchies had the geforcefx 5900 ultra beating the 256mb 9800 by a decent margin and i think they will be the same price. but still, nothing can come close to the price/performance ratio of the 9500/4200s
 
Upgrade your CPU first and then, with money in your pocket, buy a R300 or R350.
I have a 9700PRO and I can tell it is awesome.
 
I'd suggest getting the rest of the parts for your new machine before worrying about a video card. Putting a 9700 or 9800 Pro in your current system is a waste of power, because your CPU is too slow, and putting a slower card in there is a waste of money that could be put toward a faster card for your new system.
 
to be honest, get them all at the same time - Been running this P4 2.4 and Ti4600 for almost a year and I won't be upgrading for at least another🙂
That way your video power is proportional to your CPU power - less bottlenecks.
