Upgrade 560 gtx sli to?

Should i upgrade to 270 r9 or a 760 gtx then later on buying a second gpu to cross fire them or sli them Or should i wait tell Nvidia releases there new line up?

Right now the 270 r9 is selling for around 180 dollars compared to a 760 gtx which is being sold for around 250 dollars

Will a see a big difference if i upgraded?

Some of the games i play include
Guild Wars 2
Metro Light
Battlefield 3
Grid 2
Star craft 2

i5 3570k 1080p 16 gb ram

Seconded. People often overestimate how much power they need.

I would only really upgrade if you want a significant reduction in sound quality and can get very decent prices for those 560 SLI cards. But if you can't fulfill both of those criteria, not worth upgrading atm. Wait for Maxwell to come out at a minimum and possibly even longer.
 
None of those games are very demanding and GTX 560 SLI should be plenty for all of them.

A single 560 has half the performance of a GTX 670 which is equal to GTX 760. Since SLI scaling isn't perfect, you'd see perhaps +10% improvement from an upgrade to GTX 760.

That said, I can think of at least a couple reasons to make the change:
  1. The longer you hold on to the 560's, the more they lose value. The GTX 560 currently sells for about $70-80 on ebay which means you could easily get $150 for the pair. Once Maxwell is out, you'll barely get $100 for them.
  2. Power consumption. The earlier you move to a newer single GPU, the earlier you will start saving in electricity costs. You could save almost half a kilowatt per day if using a single card instead, which means around 150 kW per year, or savings of $23 at $0.15 / kW. If your electricity is particularly expensive, this is all the more important.
  3. A single GPU will run quieter and cooler.
  4. A single GPU won't suffer from potential SLI compatibility or performance instability issues.
  5. GTX 560 is not compatible with Shadowplay.

Given that I upgraded from GTX 560 Ti to HD 7950 1.5 years ago, I would probably have upgraded that 560 SLI setup by now. The only reason not to upgrade now is if you're perfectly happy with the current performance, but I still think the above reasons are considerable enough that at least a sidegrade to a similarly performing single GPU setup is definitely not a bad idea.

Radeon 270 might actually be a slightly downgrade aside from the higher VRAM. A GTX 760 might be a side-grade at best. So all in all, you would not see much benefit from upgrading to either one of those two.
 
Ive got a old computer that i could sell with one of the 560s with
it is an old core 2 quad 8300 overclocked to 3 ghz with 6 gbs of ram and a 500 gb hard drive with windows 7

Do you guys think it would worth selling and how much do you think i can get for it?
 
If you're not using the PC, then yes selling it with a suitable video card would be a good idea. Price checks aren't allowed on the forum so I all I can suggest is to research it yourself, ebay's sold listings is a pretty good start.

Do make sure you wipe the hard drive before selling it.

I think you might be better off keeping the HDD and parting out the rest. The most valuable parts are going to be CPU/mobo and RAM. You might as well keep the second 560 since they aren't worth a whole lot.

this

especially with summer coming on, going to single GPU could easily knock off ~150+W which can be a pretty big difference to room temperature if you have your computer in a smaller room
 
The biggest issue with SLI 560TI's is the 1GB Vram limit. you will get better visuals and performance from a single card that is as powerful as 2 560TI's, but has 2GB to play with.

If I'd originally bought a 2GB 560TI I'd have 2 in SLI by now, but I think I'm much happier with the lower power consumption and more modern features of my 670.

Good point, forgot that from the list. 2GB of VRAM has been the optimum for 1080p for a good while now, and one of the reasons I upgraded my 560 Ti was to enable Skyrim to use more VRAM.

What resolution do you play at and what CPU do you have?
 
I'd say you can get away with waiting until 20nm hits at 1080p like that. You might have to reduce AA or Texture resolution on a couple of games
 
Only problem with selling now is you will have to be patient for GPU prices to come down. Right now there are not many GPU deals to be had. The good news is it looks like the mining craze is starting to die down. I expect GPU deals to start showing up this summer.
