What are the specs on your f150? I got a '11 too. It's a screw lariat 2wd 5.0. It came with the premium sound system and I've got no complaints there.

if you can swing it, 3 8's would be killer. But I would suspect that to take more room than a pair of 10's.

OILFIELD,

I don't have hte premium sound. I have the super cab (ext. cab). I ahve not heard much good about the upgraded stock (Sony?) stereo.

Smoove,
The 8s require less volume for the boxes. You can fit three 8s into a smaller volume than two 10s. Four 8s are about the same in terms of space requrments as two 10s.

They have the premium sound upgrade then the Sony premium package. I have just the premium. I'm not a big stereo guy so it doesn't take much to keep me happy. I don't think I'd be willing to sacrifice the space under my backseat for a sub. It's useful for stowing junk under there and also it was nice folding up the backseat and having tons of storage for a recent vacation I took. If you do decide on doing the sub I'd definitely look into something that can be removed just in case you decide you need the room.

There are also kits available to lift the rear seat 2 inches or so.

There are, but you're talking about adding another couple hundred dollars AND making your rear seat fairly uncomfortable for anyone over 5' 10" or so. Take a look at your headliner - they've already got recesses molded in because it's not the tallest.

Have the new speakers in. Sounds much better but they are clearly less efficient than the stock speakers. The stock speakers also put out more bass but that is probably an issue with efficiency. Overall, the sound quality is like night and day.

Of course, now I want one or two 8" subs in there but that also requires a new headunit. The new head unit will better drive the door speakers but that's an extra $900+ dollars. Probably closer to $1100. We'll see how the the markets do.

Would love to see those 9" speakers...

now that I have more time in teh truck with the new speakers, I ahve to say that I am 95% satisfied. There is a rattle in one of the doors at just the right bass frequency. Probably an installation blooper.

Bottom line is that I spent $75 per speaker and another $25 for installation per speaker. So $400 or so. You can skimp and spend maybe $340. Bottom line is that you need to audition the speakers in a store to see what your music sounds like. And get what you like.
