So my old motherboard died and I figured I might as well sell my 920 and buy a 2600k!

All I really use my pc for is gaming and youtube etc.

I already have:

Corsair HX 1000 watt PSU - xfi sound card - GTX 480 x2 - Caviar Black 1TB

Heres what im thinking of getting

ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I72600K

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM

Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Not sure on a case yet.

I feel like most of these parts are very solid components but would like input anyways!

Do you guys think the ram will fit under that massive heatsink on this board?

I'm also wondering if I should save some money and get the 2500K instead of the 2600K

Thx in advance!

First, sticky http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=80121

Mobo Expensive. Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 if u don't really need USB3 or bluetooth
CPU 2600K is meant for heavily multithreaded productivity apps, and even in those 2500K is actually better bang for buck. So 2500K. Compare
RAM Good as long as it's $45 or so
SSD
Good

Ripjaws will fit, Vengeance won't. D14 is pretty massive though, you'd probably be fine with a smaller and cheaper heatsink even if u OC to 4.5 or so

Not sure on a case yet.
Why can't you reuse your current case?

Agree with lehtv. Also, it is likely that your current cooler has a bracket for LGA1155/1156, so you probably don't need to get a new one.

I wish!

I had the Ultra 120 extreme 1366RT cooler, so I have to buy a new one.

Any recommendations besides the noctua d14?

Also decided to just go with the Haf X for my case. Old one was a broken antec 1200.

Thanks!
