updating bios

functionally, is there any real difference between updating with windows utility vs. traditional floppy update?

current bios revision is supposed to support my barton. whenever i use windows util to flash it, in reboot bios reflects new version, but the proc isn't recognized. on to my question:

is it worth trying to update the bios via floppy method, or is it all the same?

I used msi's live update windows flashing utility, and it worked great. It checked out the new bios before rebooting, and the new bios update showed on the post screen. I also fried a bios chip recently when my floppy disk didn't make a good copy, and only part of the bios flashed, causing a dead board. It makes no difference which system you use, as long as you have a good floppy (both disk and drive) and good power supply.
