If you sold him the (used) player "as is" in working condition, there is nothing he can really do. If it was something I bought here and it wasn't working, I would hope the seller would give me my money back (minus shipping,) but this is really just a courtesy. But if I bought something here and it didn't work, i wouldn't be such a prick about it, so he gets what he gets.

If you shipped it, you can tell him it left and working condit (assuming it was) and if it was damaged in transit he needs to take it up with the shipper. Is this the first correspondence with him, or have communications lapsed into this?

As far as his threats go, that exactly what they are, save the emails (all of them) and if he tries some stupid #$%# you can always counter with a harassment claim. (will at least chill him out.) In your reply back, DON'T!! put in the last part in about "user incompetence." Just makes you look like an uncompromising dick. Would you want an arbitration judge reading that? If the answer is no, don't say it. Let him look like the ass.

a) I work for the national media --> I trim Wolf Blitzer's nose hairs before he goes on camera every night
b) I deal with the cops on a daily basis ---> I beat my wife regularly, and the cops know my address by heart

I tested the unit before i give him IN PERSON, but he didn't bother to even take a look at it, should i just ignore him?

It's obvious that he messed up afterwards.

No way, I'm not getting sued by the *cough* Canadian Press guy

😉

Just reply that it was working when it was sent and it was sold "as is". You are not responsible for damages that may have occured after the transaction. Simple as that. Ignore him from then on.
