We have 3 Red Eared Slider turtles that are currently living in a large aquarium. We decided to make them an indoor pond so they would have more room to swim around in etc. I decided to take some shots as I started on it this weekend and hopefully by next weekend it will be ready for the turtles.
The construction site and empty pond.
Another view of the inside of the pond
Underside showing what needs to be supported
One of the support platforms
Pond with 60 gallons of water in it
Another angle
The piece laying on its side in the 2 pics will be part of a square outer frame that we will put around the pond with a bit of a wall to keep the turtles from climbing out and falling on the floor from their rock basking area that will be in the left raised area.

It is still not totally completed but the turtles are now living in it.
Framed with grids to keep the turtles from climbing out from their basking area
Same as previous from end showing the basking stones
One of the turtles.
The largest of the 3 turtles in the bottom area
One of the 2 smaller ones likes the little cave under the basking area
Oreo inspects the pond
Oreo takes a look from the other side
On the left side is the 300 watt submersible heater and the blue items in the bottom half are part of the filter on the bottom.

We still have to cover the frame and maybe add some plywood to fill in the open areas so we can put ferns or something there. Also we are going to get some plants for the pond itself that are compatible with the turtles.

Does the tinfoil around the walls prevent the "guverment" from reading your minds?? :D

Please post pics when you're done. Where will the pond be located in the house (looks like its in the laundry room or basement right now?)

It's not tinfoil, Jigga. That's the wrapping on the insulation. It's very thin foil on one side and paper on the other.

That's pretty cool. How much "landscaping" are you going to do when the pond is sorted out?

I am not too sure yet. The area it is located in is by the laundry room in the basement. I have seen pictures of others online where they actually used cinderblock and made it permanent with tile etc but for the moment we have no plans to go that route. I am thinking maybe some plants around the outer perimeter for now.

FFMCobalt is right, the tinfoil is the standard builders wall lining they put in an unfinished basement. Keeping out the black helicopter spy rays is just a nice side benefit. ;) I am hoping to get started on the basement by fall.

Looks like a cool project. Put a big heating coil in the bottom in case you want turtle soup :D
