There is such a sign at the Wal Mart parking lot entrances here where I live. It says the police have jurisdiction in the parking lot, or words to that effect.

This is why it is important to get the police involved in every accident that you expect someone else to pay for via insurance or out of pocket. A police report would have protected you in this case big time.

I thought police don't do reports on accidents on private parking lots.

It all depends where you live. And if they do show, all they'll do is just that............do the report.

1. Why does your mother get ricer mods?
2. Your life is going to be hell soon. You can already tell this girl is scum and will try to weasle her way out of the situation. She's in training? Talk to HR. It's not their job to fix disputes but I don't think she's the kind of person that they'd want at the company.

As others stated, get everything documented and hand it over to your insurance carrier (if you have comprehensive coverage).

Statements form the security
Statements from witness(s)
Pictures of the damage - both vehicles if possible
Diagram w/ measurements showing incident.

I know the ford place here has a collision repair place here. I thought most ford places would, but I guess there could be some that don't.

Do you have uninsured motorist coverage:

"Hope you`re covered if you get into a fender-bender and discover that the at-fault driver is uninsured. In that unpleasant situation, your auto insurance will kick into gear if you have uninsured/underinsured motorist protection. Think of uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage as an important self-help tool that generally is pretty affordable. It`s important for people to protect themselves in case they get into an accident with someone who either has no auto insurance or doesn`t have enough coverage. You probably can`t afford to drive without it."

Was just wondering ... since the driver who caused the accident appears reluctant (unable) to pay. I love her response "It's too high." What does she know? Now she's even blaming you for the accident ... and you weren't even there!

Good luck ...

I hate assholes that try to blame their mistakes on other people. I hope you can get her to pay up whatever route to take. Luckily, it looks like everything was pretty well documented (witnesses, you know the perpetrator, etc.) so hopefully it shouldn't be too hard.

lol, I'd love to take it to a Ford dealer. They'd probably charge 300% more than the estimate you got.

I'd go after her insurance. Regardless of whether or not she is on their policy, their insurance company is responsible.

The insurance company will attempt to add her to their policy too, so they will get hit hard on the wallet...lol

Or an old senile man.

I was sitting in my car one day eating lunch and listening to some music when i see an older man (probably 70s) in a station wagon. He's pulling out of a parking spot but cutting the wheel way too hard. Winds up totally demolishing the back left of the car parked next to him. He must've been there for a minute or two repeatedly putting it in reverse and drive.

After the shock, I take down his license plate and make my way carefully over to the car (didn't want to wind up as road kill because of this guy). As I do this, he sees me and guns it in reverse. Puts the finishing touches on that other car and takes off out of the parking lot. Luckily me and about 20 other people in the parking lot saw what the guy did.

She was in training to work at your office, or in training as in taking a class there?

Please post back tomorrow and give us an update. This situation has the potential to get quite interesting.

Laws probably vary from state to state so I don't really know how it will shake out but ..........

While the owner of the vehicle may be insured (perhaps family members too) with the cousin driving, their insurance company may not be responsible for anything in regards to this accident. If the cousin is living under their roof, that may change if she's covered under their policy. Typically insured drivers are covered regardless of what car they're driving. She's not insured.

Your insurance company will cover the damage less your deductible. You may still end up in small claims to recover your deductible from the cousin.

I'll bet her plan was to tell the owners that she came out and the car was like that. That she has no idea who did it or how it happened. This is why she initially wanted to settle up right there and then for cash.

Keep us posted and remember laws differ from state to state. What I'm saying here may not apply in your state.

Late Tuesday evening my supervisor comes over to me and tells me to grab my keys and my badges and come with him. That gets me worried right there. He takes me down to the main lobby where security is waiting where I get the bad news. Some girl who's in training, was backing out of her spot and instead of turning, just kept backing up....... right into the right-rear quarter panel of my truck.

Closeup of the damage
'Nother closeup

It's not really as bad as it looks, the white marks are just paint from the SUV she was driving. That SUV, however...... She hit me hard enough the missing piece from the tail light landed inside my bed.

I got an estimate from the shop where my mom gets all the ricer-style work done on her Eclipse, they're the ones that quoted me $1200. She said it was "too high" and wants to get a quote from a Ford dealership. Yea, like that's gonna be any better.

I have a feeling this might turn ugly, though. She doesn't own the car, it belongs to her cousin, and she isn't insured at all. She wouldn't give me any information about the car owners insurance, claiming the owner doesn't want to get them involved(I have the policy number and car owner's name, but the sec guard didn't get hte insurance company's name). She offered to pay for the repairs, but only wants to pay about $300-500. My mother (who's name the truck is under, it's mine, but we got a better deal putting it under her name) called the girl and asked about the insurance information, the girl started lying to her saying the security guard told her I was parked where I "shouldn't have been parked" (we don't have assigned parking and only 5 reserved spots WELL away from where I was parked), and that he "should've issued a ticket" for my parking. She also told my mom that I "wasn't all the way in his spot".

I'm supposed to talk to her in person today at work to get more information, so we'll see what happens.

This is the second time I've been hit in this parking garage. First time some guy in a safety yellow car just left some paint on my bed (washed right off) and now this. I'm done parking inside where there's no room to move around.

Paging PAB! come on man, are you dead?

anyway, just get the license plate and give it to your insurance company. they'll track down the owner and sue his insurance company.

in the meanwhile, use your collison to pay, minus the deducitble. after your insurance sucessfully gets the $ from car owner, they'll give you back the dedtible. and it'll be listed as not your fault

If they're using original Ford parts and painting it with a good quality paint (and they damn well better!), I could easily see that costing $1,500 to fix.

I once hit a deer with my Audi, which dented the hood, and cracked the bumper and grill. I thought that it would cost $1,500 to fix, but ended up being $4,500. Once they took it apart, they found that the mounting brackets for the headlights and radiator were damaged as well.

Make sure to get reimbursed for the rental car as well. My Audi was in the shop for 4 days while they fixed and painted it, which racked up another $150 rental charge.

Here's a neat one that might just make you feel a little better...

I'm walking into work, I see my manager parking her brand new, literally 1 week old 200 miles on it Pathfinder with the works... we meet half way in the parking lot, and as we're about to step inside the store, we hear her equally new car alarm go off... Somebody had just backed into her new SUV, and promptly sped off... we were hundreds of feet away at the time, and we went back and checked out the damage, there was a nice crater on the front left bumper, light enclosure, and fog lamp... so that sucked, we go to work, we close down the store, and head back out to the parking lot to inspect her car once more, and what do we find?

Somebody ELSE had rear ended her, obviously with a trailer ball because of the epic hole in her back bumper, and the same lighting damage and so on... twice in one day... honestly... I thought it was hilarious :[
