I go to UCLA. To this day, I have hardly EVER seen a black guy sit down and hang out with a white guy... much less a latino and an asian.. etc... If you look at campus politics, it is nothing but a race war... I also think the nation is seething with racial tension that is not reported by the mainstream media.

Inability to speak freely, even in academic settings(such as?)

Such as, if I have a conservative viewpoint, I get shat on if I bring it up within 200 miles of UCLA. In general, people are unwilling to debate things, they are VERY set in their views.

Immense consolidation of wealth in the top 1%(I don't buy this)

Look into it, there is a lot of evidence. CEOs make about 10 times what they did in 1965 by ratio.

Lack of government transparency(seems the US is more clear these days regarding policy)

Maybe publically, but there is more paper work than ever.

Fundamental crisis in education(yep sure is)

Yup

Decreasing trends in democratization (tied to division of labor)(Where?)

Im willing to debate this one.

Loss of central values in the vacuum following the collapse of Christianity(Values have been declining)

Increasing anarchical trends(don't see that)

One sentence: Seattle riots.

Loss of basic respect for government/elders etc (tied to PC movement?) (true)

Lack of honor (yep)

Extremely poor internet laws (such as?)

ISPs are trying to screw people for trading MP3s

If you are putting racial tension, than you might as well put sexism. Of course its there, but it is getting better I would think...

Lack of government transparency? Apathy? If the mass public cared to find out, I think it could. Regardless, this is a Republic, it doesn't believe the people will make the correct decisions always, and its built knowing everyone would not care about politics.

Lack of honor? What is honorable? Is it the same for everyone?

Respect for elders? Because they experienced more, they are right? All because they are older, I don't see how they are any more noble, rightous, correct, or respectable.

I don't doubt that one bit. There seems to be a lot more racial strife in Cali these days compared to Alabama. I see black people, asians, and latinos mixing everyday at my school. The main guy that I talk to in my Criminal Justice class is black. This is not to say that racial problems don't exist. They do but lots of areas have already worked out a lot of problems.

Inability to speak freely, even in academic settings(such as?)

Such as, if I have a conservative viewpoint, I get shat on if I bring it up within 200 miles of UCLA. In general, people are unwilling to debate things, they are VERY set in their views.

This again is area specific. If you spouted a liberal view at my school you would be shot down. Politics is different in every University and you will always have people that are set in their ways regardless of whether or not they are conservative and liberal. I actually find more people willing to debate once you get to know them.

Immense consolidation of wealth in the top 1%(I don't buy this)

Look into it, there is a lot of evidence. CEOs make about 10 times what they did in 1965 by ratio.

So what? CEOs make a lot of money and they always have. CEOs are certainly not the top 1% nor has their been a consolidation in wealth if you look at the economy over time.

Lack of government transparency(seems the US is more clear these days regarding policy)

Maybe publically, but there is more paper work than ever.

Part of being a bureaucracy.

Fundamental crisis in education(yep sure is)

Yup

Decreasing trends in democratization (tied to division of labor)(Where?)

Im willing to debate this one.

Well tell me your points then.

Loss of central values in the vacuum following the collapse of Christianity(Values have been declining)

Increasing anarchical trends(don't see that)

One sentence: Seattle riots.

There have been numerous riots over the year. I hardly think the Seattle riots are a trend.

Loss of basic respect for government/elders etc (tied to PC movement?) (true)

Lack of honor (yep)

Increasing tendency to ignore the Constitution/Federal law (sure)

Extremely poor internet laws (such as?)

ISPs are trying to screw people for trading MP3s

No the RIAA is. ISPs are being forced by law to give over user information. Trading MP3s is illegal regardless of how much a bastard the RIAA is.

Many of our citizens either don't care or don't understand international politics and events and will read who got speeding tickets in town from the paper before they will the world new. Of course general apathy with government is a problem anyway, voter turn out shows alot of people just don't care.

Along the same lines we're not being observant enough of our government and the laws that are being passed that really aren't for the good of the people. I don't believe many people would say that the usa patriot act or the dmca are examples of good legislation.

We also have many unfit parents not teaching their children properly. I would like to see better sex education to teach people to be protected so we have fewer accidental pregnancies. Encourage contraception, abstinance, and masturbation as alternatives to unprotected sex instead of just trying to preach one "technique."

I could go on but I'm tired ;)

edit:
ISPs are trying to screw people for trading MP3s
I assure you no isp wants to be involved with any sort of regulation/monitoring, etc. In an industry that operates on thin profit margins as it is, the last thing anyone in this business wants to do is take on such a responsibility, especially since then they would be expected to monitor for movies, then software, then child porn, then terrorists, etc. Any sane isp is going to have nothing to do with that.

The biggest problems facing america are

The lack of personal responsibility & the lack of parental responsibility.
