Refurb? I don't think I'd get a refurb anything for only 10% less than new.

Edit: HAHA, it says Price: 199.99 You Save: 120 (40%)

So i guess that means retail price for a refurb is 299.99, although retail price for new is 199.99 :disgust:

huesmann, Overstock categorizes all of their items as "reconditioned". They're not refurbished.

KBToys.com has it for $199.99 with a Free Accessory pack. But I don't think you can use their coupon codes on games.

I think refurbished sounds better anyway, reconditioned reminds me of A Clockwork Orange, but neither sounds as good as brand new :D

I don't know if I'd get a refurbished/reconditioned PS2. The older models are known to have problems with the lasers.

Price on Overstock.com dropped to $169.99, so it's now $154.99 after the $15 off $150 coupon.

Great price. This should be a refurb as retailers have an agreement with Sony to not sell the new hardware for less than MSRP, which is currently $199.99US. The question is will MS/Sony drop their prices again before Christmas?

Overstock is offering a 2 year warranty for an addtl 25.99 do you think this might be worth it considering how PS2's can be prone to laser/drive issues?

On second thought how much is a CC or BB 2-3 yr service contract?

If you have one of those platinum credit cards, they usually offer a year or two extended warranty for free. Check with your credit card company for detail, of course ;)

The real question is "are they brand spanking new?" Anything else is a discussion in semantics.

I bought a refurb xbox and as soon as the warenty ended the hard drive crapped out... M$ wanted $99 + shipping to Washington to repair it! Its a Better Deal to Buy a New One with 2 Games and new controller then to get it repaired. Go Retail all the way for Videogame Systems That Have a Laser/harddrive.

In your case the best bet for your xbox would be to chip it and install a larger HD

My local Circuit City had Xbox for $169.99 also. Brand new. System only....no free games, memory, or extra controller. I would not be surprised if system only drops to $169.99 permanently.

Are they still going to be making system only? Its possible they're just trying to clear them out. If they are, then yeah, 169 for system only sounds right, it would be tough to try to sell them at 199 with nothing after offering them with them 2 games for that price

actually a better one would probably be at ebgames.com. 199.99 and free shipping. but in most states, there's no tax.

then again, does buy.com charge tax? i live in CA so they charge tax for me.
