the new nvidia xp drivers makes my system freeze... anyone else got problems...

the ones that were with the cd work fine.. but can't play games in openGL...

i got a asus v7700 if that helps..

and those drivers would be.....................

I don't know if you're talking about the official ones or what not..

I'm sorely disappointed with the Nvidia (or should I blame XP) drivers that are currently out there. I've tried 23.11, 23.12, and 27.10 and all have been locking up my system (mosty in Diablo II, but at other random times also).

Is there a consensus on the most stable drivers for XP?

well i just saw that archive of drivers for xp... i used the 21.83 version...

i dont' know if this has to do with anything but does WHQL certification help??

WHQL certification merely means it's been tested and certified by Microsoft for operation under Windows.

i'm using the 23.11 without a ny problems. my gainward gf3 gs @ 240/530.
u should try using the latest 27.20 drivers
i'm dlin them now will give ud

I had problems with the new drivers also but managed to fix the problem. Three things that could cause your computer to freeze and lockup:

1- having a VIA base motherboard
2- using WinXP
3- using nvidia drivers 23.11 or above

If you are using all three like I am, chances are you're having computer problems. To fix the problem I downloaded and installed the new 4.37 VIA 4in1 drivers. If you're overclocking your ram by using the 1t command than I suggest to disable it. It worked for me and now I'm using nvidia driver 23.12 and I'm not having anymore problems. Hope this helps.

hmmm couldn't say i have that problem. i'm usin the 23.11 and runnin my 512 curcial pc2100 @154mhz x11 = xp2000
well thats on my xp1900 that i've o/c. waitin on my intercooler kit to take it further!

mste456,

We have a very similar setup. I'm using a MSI KT266 Pro-Raid with 512 Crucial ECC Registered DDR and 1.4 t-bird @ 1.54MHZ. But my CPU is unlocked so my settings for the CPU is 11.5x133mhz= 1540mhz. This way here I'm not stressing my ram or my system. With my Vision Xtasy 6564 o/c @ 230/455mhz I get a score of 7049 with 3DMark2001. Why does my system freezes up on me when I have the 1t command enabled? I don't know! It just does.

21.83s the best for me so far. I tried the 23.11s but they caused some problems with sound and maxpayne didn't run good at all "very glitchy". This was on a soyo dragon+ and gf3 ti200 running windows 98.

There is a long 16 page discussion about this issue at viaarena, lots of proposed solutions, none worked for me so I went back to my R8500

I also had the freeze/reboot problem using the 23.11 driver. I'm now using the 21.88 driver--it crashed after the FIRST reboot only. No more problems since.

MSI K7T KT133A
MSI Starforce GF2 Pro

Glad I'm not the only one.... I put the new drivers on last night, and they lock up Win2K as well. I went back to 21.83 and it's rock solid again.

I didn't update the VIA drivers, though, so maybe I'll give it another go,
