Good Chiefs think alike.

I'm hoping to see under $18000 out the door with leather.

$17,500-18,000 would be a nice price for an EX w/leather.

I wonder if he picked up one that had been kicking around the lot for a while. You could wheel and deal on one of those like nobodys business!

Initially, a 2001 w/leather selling brand new, right off the semi, can garner $24-26k. Plus taxes and tags and title.

they started me out at $18,500 and laughed when I asked them to knock it down to $17,500. I said ok, fine. Was going to walk out the door and the guy went and got the manager. He said he'd give it to me for $17,000. I said ok, and he said ok, I'll give ya another $100 and got it for $16,900. I asked them to print me a kelley blue book on the car as well as a Carfax and I watched him punch in the info. Blue booked for like $19, 300 or thereabouts and the car fax is completely clean just one owner prior to me.

No leather though (not a big fan of leather, very hot and sticky here) but the interior is super clean. Has everything else, 6 cd changer in the dash, cassette, keyless entry, anti-theft, sunroof, VTEC engine as mentioned, etc (finding new cool things still).

Dunno if I got a super deal or not but I'm happy and hopefully it'll last me 4-5 years :)

If anyone is curious, I'm 22, just graduated college and started my new job 2 months ago so this is my first car that I bought! (I had an old 1990 Chevy Astro minivan from my parents for the past 3 years. Great college car!)

KBB was showing Dealer Retail. I dont like KBB per se, I usually look at edmunds and NADA.

Dealer retail is usually several thousands higher than trade in (wholesale). You get them to w/in 2% of wholesale thats a deal.

Honda's keep their value something awful. My father and I buy insurance totals and rebuild them and sell them, I have seen Accords with 150k+ miles on them, hit in the front, bags blown, and guys will pay $1000-1200 for them, fix them up, and ask $3-4000 for them. And they can sell them like hotcakes.

"out team hasn't played too many games together... they haven't gelled yet."
you lost to an expansion team! its only luck that more than maybe two of them had played on some team before!
