*Updated* no more car troubles.

if you live in south central ontario, you'll know that we had bad weather over the past few days. when i came from work early friday morning, i parked the car in the driveway (garage is not accessible right now) and hibernated all weekend. so today my mom needed the car and realized the tires were stuck in the snowy icy driveway. she used a metal shovel to try and unwedge the car, but no go. then i tried and managed to free the back tires, but nearly passed out because of the amount of ice and manpower it was taking. i need the car for tomorrow at 5 a.m., and so i'm in panic mode. i msg'ed an online friend and i forgot he lives in nice warm cali, lol. then i called my ex-boyfriend who did give me some great ideas, but i can't use them because the car needs to be dug out first. unfortunately he's not able to come by because he's swamped with work. at his suggestion i contacted caa, but only to find out that caa does not get cars out of snow-filled driveways.

i'm screwed, please help.

update:
i regained some strength, boiled some water, went outside, poured water on the 2 front tires, fell on my ass, poured some more water, cursed cuz i forgot the car keys inside, went inside, came back out, fell on my ass, put the car in reverse, and went flying into the street. welcome to whiplash city!

at least it's unstuck, and i'm keeping the car on the lower part of the driveway.

Aside from digging it out, I agree.. you're screwed. If you can't make it, you can't make it, I guess. I'm sure they'll understand.

I live in London Ontario and I know what you are talking about.

The solution is simple. Fill a bucket with hot water and pour it around the tires till they are free.

Then move the car away from that spot.

Start the car and let it warm up, the heat from the enginbe will probably help. If it's still too stuck, pour hot water on the tires.

If hot water will work, then do that. For some reason I imagined the car burried up to the doorhandles.

we ran out of salt and sand recently. right now i'm still so exhausted from nearly passing out. i've become a weakling since losing a lot of weight recently.

Got cat litter kicking around? Dump some under the tires while rocking back and forth.

I don't really see the problem - if you've dug out around the tires decently it shouldn't take that long to dig enough so that you can start moving the car back and forth in little spurts should it? You could try taking out a hairdryer out there on an extension.

Or you could do like I did and move from Canada down south It got to about 26 C today. Beautiful!

front tires still stuck.

What do you mean by stuck? Like, frozen to the ground? I've never heard of that before. It seems like you would have enough leverage in the steeringwheel gears to break the tires free.

Is the car front wheel drive? Start it up and hit the gas.

car is all wheel drive, i think. yes, stuck as in ice frozen all around it, to the ground. the car was on, i tried the rocking back and forth, hence this thread. i'm not a total idiot, you know

That's my recommendation. I've had tires freeze to the driveway before, all I had to do was gun the engine a bit and they broke free without any real trouble. First gear will multiply the torque a lot, there would have to be massive amounts of ice for the tires to be frozen strong enough to prevent the engine from breaking them free.

Oops I forgot you were a girl *chuckle*.

by stuck you mean they are just spinning like mad, right? And I guess they can't move because there is too much snow around them and the rear...well you need to combine hot water (although that will freeze and be a hell of a mess later), hairdryer, or just more "manpower". Drive to the store and buy some gatorade, then come back and try and free your car!

Oh wow the tires are actually FROZEN? Never heard of that. So they won't even spin at all? Put it in either reverse or forward so that you don't hit anything depending on where the car is and assuming it's an auto one foot on gas and the other ready to hit the brakes as soon as it lurches. Then give it some big gas!

Just get in it and step on the gas until you drive out of there. The worst that will happen is all your tires will spin.

At that point, you can add sand/gravel as necessary. Or hot water.
