Don't sell a laptop on ebay. You are bound to get scammed 70% of the time.

thanks for the replies, but this is what I don't get. why not make me send laptop to his real address in the states and not africa? that way he gets both the laptop and the money. sounds pretty dumb to me... WHY?

If you've already shipped the laptop you're screwed.

If you haven't - don't. Relist it.

More sophisticated countries have harsher scamming laws, I'm pretty sure Nigeria is pretty lenient about those things versus the US or Canada or the UK.

You have legal recourses in the USA. FBI, their local police, postal fraud... etc.

other countries have differing levels of co-operation in stuff like this.

Africa's level is ZERO.

See if you can get him to send a pre-paid shipping label. Then send some bricks or old tires.

Same thing happens when you try to sell on a local paper, such as Recycler or Pennysaver. It is awful that these predators exist to scam people out of their products and money. Don't ever fall for it.

If you haven't noticed, ebay has announced that people from NIGERIA have been doing this.

Let's see.

The scam list:

Country...Nigeria. Check.
Poor spelling and/or grammar...Check.
Weird shipping arrangements...Check.

Give someone else a shot at it, or relist it. Or better yet, sell it here in FS/FT.
