Here it is

That's based on the skull symbol seen on Boba Fett's shoulder plate. I couldn't find much in the way of decent sized pictures of it, so I found a small one and traced it in Illustrator. I've spent quite a few hours tweaking it and changing things I didn't like. I've wanted to get this done for years, and recent events have convinced me that now is a good time to do it. I hope to get it done this Saturday. I'll post pics of the finished work.

UPDATE

Here's a few pics of me and my tat.

I can see where this gets addicting, I'm already starting to think about what I want to get next. I'm leaning towards a band on my right arm.

Nice job! While my maternal side says "don't color on yourself, silly" the wannabe biker babe side from long ago distant memory says "hey, coooooooooooooooooooool!". ;)

That looks sweet.

Is it painful??? Depends on where you get it. Generally, over an area with bone underneath it (i.e. hip, shoulder, spine, etc) will hurt more.
It is a lot worse than getting a shot because they have to go over the same area several times with the needles to cover it.
But hell, if I can deal with it, I'm sure you can too ;)

Looks pretty cool. Now if you want to be a real badass, you should get it so that it covers your whole back, with the 2 side horns coming down your arms and the top of the skull on your neck. hehe..jk

Also, that looks cool in black, make sure they use the blackest ink they've got for it...that "tatoo green" color is really cheesy, especially when someone's got a cool design, but opts for the cheap ink.

Cool, I like it. I've been thinkin' about getting one...

How much do they change as your physique (or lack thereof) changes? I'm scared to get one now, in fear that it will get distorted if I change too much (for the better).

There'd be no point in getting tats if they felt good.

The ink is just a souvenier :p

and yah that looks cool, this reminds me, I need to get my right arm done already...geez.

go to a drug store and get "Bag Balm" to use on it...I"m sure your artist will tell you all the stuff you need to do but if they dont or you're confused lemme know :)

and since its black (not that it matters much) be prepared to put sunblock on it ANY TIME you go out in the sun for the rest of your life :)

Bober, that's a damn cool design. My friend has that similar Boba Fett insignia on a brushed steel key chain. I've always liked that symbol.

That's a really cool design. I like it.

As far pain goes, it varies. I have two tattoo's, one on my right calf, and another on my back. The first one I got was the one on my back and it didn't hurt that bad, it actually just felt like someone was scratching me with a sharp fingernail. That is, until he got to the shoulder blade, and that hurt like hell. Still, nothing you can't handle. The one on my calf was a little different. It hurt quite a bit more than the one on my back, from start to finish. I actually got really light headed when he first started on it, but after I settled down I was fine.

I want a new tattoo (my final one I swear), I was thinking of getting some flames that start at the base of my left ankle, wrap around my leg, and go up to the middle of my calf.

Cool. Where are you going to get it? If I wasn't such a chicken...I would prolly get a butterfly done somewhere. :)

toolgirl: No kidding, I also told my self I would not get a second one after I got my first one. But then I just had to. ;) I keep them in places that are easy to cover though, easier to get a job that way. :)

Words of wisdom

The placement of your design is critical. I've seen wonderful designs put on the wrong part of the body and it can detract from the artists work. Take the time to decide if this is something you want for the rest of your life. Do not get the work done with the attitude "I can always get it removed". This is much more painfull than getting the tattoo itself. Do alittle research on the artists in your area. Talk to them find out how long they have been doing this. I think you'll find that the artist's love the work and enjoy helping people with their design decisions and placement. You don't want a newbie. This might be cheaper but it will show in the quality of work. Be prepared to spend $100.00 - $150.00 dollars an hour for custom work. Is it painful ? I don't think so, I actually reach a kind of euphoric stae when under the needle. Although I've actually seen people passout from it. In the end it entirely depends on you and your tolerance. If you have any other questions feel free to send me an email or pm . I love tattoo's and enjoy talking about them.

I would have to agree with the Platypus. He is my neighbor and I know him quite well. I personally have 4 myself, and it doesn't hurt bad at all. Pain depends on the placement. The most painful place I have had inked is my spine/kidney area, but even that wasn't too bad.

Rules of wisdom:

Think hard about your design
Think hard about where you are gonna place it
Be ready to spend the rest of your life with it
Don't be cheap (super super super important), remember the old expression you get what you pay for!

Thanks for all your input. There's a few places I know of in my area that I'll check out before actually getting it done. I'm going to get it on my left shoulder/upper arm. The finished size will be about 4" high or so.

Tonight's the night! :D

I've updated the pic to the finished design (there were a few modifications) and it's now closer to the size it will be. I think I may have to get myself a digital camera now so I can post pics. Wish me luck. ;)
