Updated my daily driver a few months ago

I had a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E550 Coupe but it was getting up there in mileage and was out of warranty so I decided to trade it in on this.

C63 AMG v1.jpg

It had 17k miles on it and was fresh off a 2 year lease so it came with a Mercedes CPO warranty.

This car is a freaking monster. 469hp & 479lb-ft of torque out of a 4.0l biturbo V8 engine and it will sprint to 60mph in 4.0 seconds. Brakes are phenomenal and the chassis is surprisingly stiff for a rag top. With the top up it is also surprisingly quiet despite the massive 285/30ZR-19 rear tires. Put it in Sport+ mode and the exhaust opens up and cracks and pops and will definitely get some heads turning. It is pure hooligan satisfaction waith a nice throaty V8 roar. With the car in comfort mode or sport mode it is more sedate but still fast, just more like a luxury car than a sports car.

I wasn't really looking for a convertible but my wife came with me when we test drove it and she just fell in love with it. These days, she drives it more than I do since I'm working 100% from home. Plus, we live in San Diego so it really is the perfect place to have a convertible.

nice ride.. I think i have put more hours on my allis chalmers tractor than the cars in the last month.

Yet they have a rather large Iranian population....

Anyway, their mask rules are you don't need them if you're in the car with the windows up. But if you open the windows you need one. I'm picturing a dog hanging its head out the window with slobber flying everywhere LOL

New this car had an MSRP of a little over $85k.

I paid $56k for it.

The interesting thing about the v8 engine is that the turbos are nestled in between the cylinder heads where the intake is on most engines.
Yes, the hot-valley setup is pretty common these days to save space. Even the diesel trucks do it (Duramax and Powerstroke).

That's a little less than I thought. For some reason I thought they were like $100,000+.

Still a pretty penny.

Depends on the options boxes checked. The C63S model is the most expensive model, they can go up over $100k for the Cabriolet.

The thing is, that extra $15k only gets you one tenth of a second quicker 0-60 time. The car I bought was low mileage, has no prior accident damage and the color and options it has were what I wanted.

I’m not really a convertible guy but my wife loves it. I had a convertible when I met her 30 years ago but I know what they’re like to live with on a daily basis.

This one is pretty good though and it is honestly the fastest car I’ve ever driven.

The S class cabriolet is well over $100k and the AMG version of that car is around $200k.

To be fair 30 years ago is a long time ago and convertibles have improved A LOT since then. Besides, what weather do you need to deal with? LOL

I'm guessing he means if the actual tips are rectangular like that or if that's just trim and the actual pipes are inside.

It's a rectangular trim piece, they aren't plastic though, they are chrome plated metal. The exhaust tips exit into the trim piece but don't actually contact the trim piece. All the C63's are like that. Most late model Mercedes are like that actually.

Being chrome I'm constantly cleaning them too because they get a buildup of a black soot and if you let it go too long it is more difficult to clean it off.

Here are some better pics of the exhaust tips and rear of the car.

I don’t have any of the carbon fiber bits unfortunately. Those are thousands of dollars. I looked into getting a rear diffuser and front splitter and lip but that was almost $4k for quality aftermarket pieces installed. They look cool but not really worth the money IMO.
