Looks like memory prices are continuing to slide...

DDR spot prices for 256Mbit products were sent down 4.1% on Wednesday to an average of US$2.87 and has the market worried that prices will collapse to US$2, reported the Chinese-language Economic Daily News.

I'll bite when it hits $60 shipped. I just bought a 9700 Pro, so the mem is gonna have to get just a tad bit cheaper before I buy.

You'll be getting close. $66 + $0.50 shipping right now.

Someone said this would NEVER hit $60? ;) :p

I'm going to say it'll never hit $50 :)

If the spot market does fall from $2.87 to around $2, $50 is in the ballpark. Every day it gets harder and harder to resist these memory deals, but I'll keep waiting. 2 weeks from now we'll probably be hearing complaints like "Wahhh!! I can't believe I bought at $65..." or "Man, it went from $62 to $58 last night, will they give me a price adjustment?"

I did a little calculation. Assuming dram capacities are following moore's law and assuming that the memory market gets as bad as it was early last year when I bought 256MB of crucial DDR266 @ $23, then the price of 512MB should fall to $30. Don't rely on my figures though because I'm just making wild extrapolations.

Finally took the plunge and did it for 66.50...i might miss some more downside, but i rather have it now then wait for it to go back up.

Editted to reflect price accuracy again.

I'm sorry I didn't have the thread updated for a week - I was away on a business trip.

Which one is better: Crucial 512 DDR333 PC2700 memory or Kingston (same specs)?

How do they work together? (I have already bougt crucial for my system with Intel D845PEBT2 mobo and P4 2.66)
