You'll find that most scanners support TWAIN so that shouldn't be a problem. (By the way, TWAIN is one of the better computer industry acronyms. It stands for Technology Without An Interesting Name.)

The term used for scanners that handle both sides of the paper is "duplex". You didn't mention if it needed to do color or if monochrome (grayscale) would be sufficient.

I don't know how many pages you want to scan in a day or what your budget is, but if you really need a high-powered unit consider one of the Ricoh models. They are industrial strength, support TWAIN, blistering fast and network-attachable. We have two IS330DC models and they run like a tank. But you pay for it.

do you ever! :p
at a glace they are betwen around 3 grand... i suppose thats reasonable, but when my previous favourite was a $200 epson its hard to justify making that swtich lol

I actually can't decide between the Epson Perfection 3170 Photo and the Canon CanoScan 3200F

Both seem to be the fastest available in their class and considering we are upgrading out Epson Perfection 1260, i think either would be great...

EDIT: none of them support duplex scanning. back to the drawing board.[/b] :(
EDIT2: this is getting cluttered and im now leaning to the HP Scanjet 8250 so i'll start another thread about it to see what ppl think of that scanner.
