So, what kind of car will you be doing this journey in? 😛

Make sure you've got a stash of CD's to listen to along the way in the seat next to you.

Got a radar detector?

My ricer Civic. It'll blend right in the Cali scene.

that looks uncomfortable.😛

Sounds like a fun adventure for you. Great thing to do when you're young and not tied down, good luck! Make sure you've got everything you need for the trip, spare, toolkit, fix-a-flat, etc. Maybe even a gas container with a gallon or so. You never know when you're in the middle of no-frickin-where USA.

Elk Grove is a nice place to live about 10 minutes south of Sacramento. Lots of Asians live here but the weather is hot and dry in the summer but never humid like Orlando. Take your time coming out here and see the rest of the country...

Yes, after a full day of driving, its almost unbearable.
OK, so my car is already lowered and it scrape just a bit on bumps. Add to the fact that I fully loaded the damm car with all my sh1t, it scrape on the littelist bump.

UPDATE:

So I left Friday at 10pmish.
Drove for a while until I got pass the I-10 detour because of the hurricane.
As soon as I pass that, I took a nap in my car(uncomfortable as hell) for about 5 hrs.
I then continued all the way to Houston and got there around 9pm Sat.

Being as cheap as I usually am, I frickin drove for over an hr looking for a cheap motel.
Ended up in the biggest dump ever and that costed me $40....damm place was so aweful I didn't even try to take a shower. Considering I was sweaty all day, it should tell you how bad the motel was.
Oh yeah, I was afraid for my car too.

I changed plan and not continued my road trip so I found another motel to stay for another night.
Found a really nice DAYSINN thats 100x times better and its only $10 more. And it even have FREE wireless which is how I'm tying now.

If I get a chance, I'll take a picture of the car and show you how packed my car is 🙂

Did you get transfered to a McDonald's out there?

No I moving to Cali for purely FUN.
There is really no transfer unless you work for the corporation but most McDonalds are franchised owned now.
As for me, I've already completed all of the classes required by McDonalds(even Hamburger U, don't laugh) so basically I can get a high manager position at any McDonalds with no effort.

If I want to make some decent money while I'm in Cali, I would take this route.
If I want more freedom while I'm in Cali, I would get a server position.(I worked as one for Disney for 5 yrs)
If I decide to stay in Cali for good, I would pursue a job related to my accounting degree.

have a safe trip!
...also tie anything that you think will fly or be a projectile inside your car when you do a sudden brake. Animals like dogs cross the road and sometimes you have to hit the brakes hard...based on my experience.

Houston have like the worst road condition.
All roads and highways are full of cracks, potholes and uneven surfaces.
Definately not lowered car friendly.

My trip went like this:

Left Friday 10pm
Slept in car for about 5 hrs and got to Houston by Sat 9pm.
Stay in roach motel Sat. Stay in really nice motel Sun night.
Left Monday 10am and got near Tucson and slept in car for about 6 hrs.
Got to SD and spend Tues and Wed night in SD/TJ.
Left Thursday and got to Vegas early and stay a night there.
Left Fri morning and got to Sacramento Fri night where crap got stolen my first night there.

Drove around ~3100 miles. The worst part was from Houston to Tucson. It was a long stretch with nothing in between.
