Hey Junior,

There is NO onboard video on the 8RDA+. You must be thinking the 8RGA+!

This board has an AGP 8x slot...

Hot deal tho... I got to quit reading these forums... between this and tech bargains.com, I'm cleaning out my wallet.

I remember when these were $103 hehe

This is a perfect match with the amd xp1700+ that (ymmv) is being overclocked on air to 2.x ghz levels.

How does this board compare to the Asus Nforce board? Does it have that goofy allergy to Crucial RAM like the Asus board does? This board is certainly less expensive than the Asus.

Please inquiring minds want to know! I have this board and same CPU (version B), and want to OC more but am leary (Tim?) of what to do.....

See my rig specs here at AT.

At least it runs cooler than the 1600+!!! Almost 16 degrees cooler (F).

Would love to find a better deal on some PC3200 RAM, as I only have one 512M Crucial PC2100 (runs great) chip and two-256M PC2700 Samsung (PNY) chips.

Drop me a PM or email about what you suggest, or at least to compare notes. Its always good to hear from someone who has experience, as I have only built two PCs - so far!

More info on this board can be found in the AnandTech review:
nForce2 6-way Motherboard Roundup - December 2002

It stacks upvery well against the Asus board.

Unfortunately I just purchased an ECS L7S7A2 board earlier today, or I would jump on this.
Do a search for "L7S7A2" on Hot Deals. If you want to go with a cheap board, it goes for $66 shipped.

edit: Changed K7S7A2 to L7S7A2 above, sorry about that, got the number confused with the K7S5A.

I have the 8RDA+ running with 2x512 PC2700 Crucial, and I DO have the allergy you speak of..

Damnit, I just paid $112 for this recently. Go grab it now!

Great overclocker, only thing that sucks is that although it has the great nforce2 audio, it doesn't have the connectors. You have to pay extra for that.

Dang, this is a ripping deal. Too bad I just got a A7N8X, otherwise I'd jump all over this.

Hope yours works if you get one. I just had to RMA an 8RDA+ that was DOA from Newegg, but they are good about RMA policy. As mentioned above, the 8RDA is picky about ram and not just Crucial 512 MB. I've found that I need to run any ram I've tried at a lower FSB than it's rated at to get stability. Running ram at it's default FSB has resulted in very frequent BSOD crashes using three kinds I've tried. Others may have different results, this is just what I've seen.

What connectors are you talking about?

Great deal on a great board - if you want to save more get the 8rda (non+ version) for $88. Lesser onboard sound and no raid, but same o/c capabilities.

The "+" version has no raid either. Only difference is the onboard sound, I believe.

So, this is a problem with all Nforce2 boards then? What did you do about it? Run different RAM? Run your RAM slower than its clock speed?

For those of you that bought that new ECS K7S7A2 board, how is it?

Thanks again.

nice board and nice price.

looks like it is/was the crucial 512 pc2700 modules with the problem. however crucial's memory selector now shows these as compatible with both the 8rda+ and the asus a7n8x. supposedly they took that module off the list for those nforce2 boards for a while - but its back now. looks like YMMV with that memory module.
