SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE

Rant

So I walk to my car on friday and I see that the rear window is busted out and snow and glass is all over the inside of the car. Okay I happened to get to my car late on friday so I can only get quotes from glass repair people I got one for $500 and I will have to wait til monday to actualy get it fixed. So during the weekend my car is undrivable and unsecure so I move it to a school's parking lot so I can watch it over the weekend. I get a day pass for monday because I thought the guy could come out on monday to fix it. However No he's already booked up how I do not know cause on Friday they were open and they were not taking appointments over the weekend. Also it will cost $600 not $500 which I understand because they deal with used glass and are still considerably cheaper than other competition.

So I talk to the guy and schedule an appointment for tuesday. The installer never calls (I dont have his phone number) so I call the scheduler. After about talking to the scheduler for 30 minutes and after him talking to the installer I figure out he was calling the wrong freaking area code. So hes not going to be able to come out again until wednesday.

Now I've had temp permits for monday and tuesday to stay parked in the lot however by the time I got the glass work scheduled again parking services was closed. Which means I cannot get a permit and I run the risk of getting a $50 parking fine. There is an appeals proccess to the parking ticket I'm trying to get as much stuff in writting as possible to fight the possible ticket. But my hopes are glum for fighting the ticket.

end rant

Cliff's

-Rear Window Broken
-Have to wait 5 days to get it fixed
-Will cost $600
-Might cost $50 more because of parking fine
-Costs me lots of aggravation, and time which is valuable to me.

I work at my school's police department, which runs the parking enforcement for the school. I see emails sent out all the time, of a jist like:

"Please do not ticket a red Chevy Cavalier (MI LFH-583) in lot W-14. The driver is having engine problems and will have the car moved as soon as possible this week."

Call your school's police department, and see what they say.

Some douche broke the window thats who. This is the only person who I think I would actualy kill.

The douche used a tool(baseball bat) to break it cause there was no rock or anything in the car besides snow and pellet glass.

edit: My concentration is bad right now.

He didn't. He said "Gawd."

He spelt it "gawd." You must have a stick really far up your ass to complain about something that small.

I went over the police department (same building as parking services) and they only issued me a night pass which for the parking lot. I will have to get up and get a day pass when parking services opens up. If I take all steps I will not get a ticket but I'm just bound to get a ticket.

Been there, done that, feel for you. Same thing happened to me back when I was in college. Was parked in a big parking lot and I guess someone threw a beer bottle and hit my back window and shattered it. Big hassle and mess...

On the upside (if there is an upside to this type of thing), I had a truck at the time and got a free tinted sliding glass window to replace my plain one without a slider.

Nope. He took the Lawd's name in vain instead.

The window was fixed and I recieved a parking ticket.

Heres my appeals letter for the parking ticket tell me what you guys think of it. (its kinda long winded)

Reasons for appeal,

At approximately 4:30pm on Friday January 21, I discovered that my rear window of my car had been smashed in. The car was parked outside of the campus, Stonemill and Rubicon. I tried to report the vandalism to the City of Dayton Police department however since nothing was stolen all they would do is make a report for the insurance company. Thus no report was filed. I moved my car into S1 so I may watch over it occasionally.

I called several automotive glass replacement companies on Friday after moving my car. I received a quote for $590.00 from Auto Glass Plus to have the rear window replaced. After making several phone calls to other companies I found that Auto Glass Plus was the cheapest by at least $300. By the time I got off the phone with the last company to receive a quote I tried to call Auto Glass Plus to schedule an appointment. However by that time their scheduling department was closed for the weekend.

On Saturday I procured a temporary parking permit for Monday January 24(see attached photocopy). On Monday January 24 in the morning I called Auto Glass Plus back and made an appointment for Tuesday January 25 between the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Since the car was going to be in S1 for another day I got another temporary parking permit for Tuesday January 25(see attached photocopy).

On Tuesday January 25 I waited for a phone call from the glass installer which never happened. Thus around 5:20 PM that day I called Auto Glass Plus?s scheduler and found out that the installer was calling (wrong phone #). I rescheduled the installation between 9:00 and 11:00 Wednesday January 26. After I rescheduled I went to Benisek Hall to receive another Temporary Parking Permit however at this time Parking Services was closed. So I received a One Night Pass for the night of Tuesday January 25 from the communications officer on duty. I was told by the communications officer on duty that I will need to see Parking Services in the morning of Wednesday January 26 in order to receive a One Day Pass.

On Wednesday January 26 I had an 8:00am to 8:50am class (Appl Diff Equations with Liu, R). At 9:00am I called the installer (got his number from the scheduler) to setup a meeting point and cement the appointment. After getting off the phone with the installer I went out to my car at approximately 9:10am and found a Parking Ticket for a Expired Night Pass issued at 9:06am (see attached Photocopy). I moved my car to the location of the installation MaryCrest Parking lot. The rear window was finished installed at 10:45am(see attached photocopied receipt) and I moved my car out of the MaryCrest parking lot into the Student Neighborhood.

I am appealing the citation for the Expired night Pass because I had an 8:00am to 8:50am class and an important phone call to place at 9:00am on the same day the ticket was issued. Parking services opens at 8:00am thus there was no way for me to retrieve a temporary parking permit. So the only way to avoid getting this ticket would be if I skipped my class.

The rear window on a 99 Chrysler Concorde.

Its that expensive because the glass is connected to the rubber moulding. So its a more expensive piece.

I said in the report that I wanted to be able to keep an eye on it. So @ssholes dont mess with it anymore or try to steal something. I could look out my dorm window and see my car.

Also in my car this isn't a big problem considering the trunk is so long but.

If you drive a car with the rear window out the exhaust will enter the car because of the vacuum behind the car. And this is very dangerous. Yes you can always just open another window.
