The Best Buy in Torrance, CA brought out the store manager and half the geek squad to explain to me that my coupon was "doctored" and was missing a paragraph that their copy had. I told him I would show it to him on their own website and he said that anyone can "spoof URLs." I wasn't quite sure how to respond to something so dumb so I left.

Don;t lose heart, if you have another BESTBUY near by go to that one or if you want this memory from the same store go back with the Case# OP Provided in his thread on the first page.

So be confident this time and say i called your 1800BESTBUY number and they gave me this case number, and if they still say no get their names and store number and you can call BESTBUY corporate office and tell them.

Every body listen carefully this coupon is legit as it can be, and there is a limit of 2 sticks per person. Most of the BESTBUYS are informed by their corporate office by now, because if they don;t give you memory, you can sue them or it could be a big law suite against them.

There is guy at the other forum who works in the Lawfirm he sent them a letter on the behalf of his firm, lets see what happens because he did not got his memory.

I got 10 Memories already plus 1 bag. :)

Ive gotten hit by the rejection stick @ 3 best buys, even twice with the case number...they said the case was outdated by newer ones that claim this has to be purchased with a computer or laptop.

:'( Anyone want to help a fellow AT'er with no luck out?? I know you guys dont need 10 sticks of RAM. Gladly pay a little cover charge for ya ;)

I know this is another stupid Best Buy shaft job, but someone really should stick it to these guys. They have been pulling this kind of thing for as long as I can remember and they continue to show their incompetence in dealing with their own promotions and customer service. Where is the AG, FTC, BB and others when you need them?

Edit for spelling.

I have a complaint for you guys going to get 10 sticks or more... Do you really need to do that? When me and my friend went, we got 5 sticks total, but he got two for his 700m, one for his latitude and I got two for my wife's 600m. What could you guys possibly do with with eight, ten or more sticks. You'd have to have 4 or 5 laptops or more that take DDR to utilize all of this stuff. I might understand if you're getting some for friends, but still, theres getting in ona good deal, and then theres just downright selfishness.

It is absolutely selfishness, as many of the people here even said they were getting them to sell on ebay. It's how most people are when these situations arise.

Got my free gig, and my friend got a free gig. We went to the first best buy, and they only had one stick in stock. I let him get it because he needed it more. We had to go to the register, and then customer service, and then the geek squad desk. That was because no one else knew how to ring up the installation. Once they figured that out, they rang it up, gave my friend his receipt and said bring it back anytime with this receipt and they will install it. (We may just do that ourselves :) It went so smoothly, that we thought we would hit another best buy, because we both wanted a gig in our machines. The next store we hit, had about ten in stock. So he grabbed one more, and I grabbed 2 and headed right to the geek squad desk. I had to have both of mine rung up separately, because when he rang them up together, only one of the installs was free. Anyway, we were expecting a fight, but had no problem. We did not get greedy, and we left the rest behind for someone else. Thanks for the great deal!

WOW!!! I just went to BB (holyoke MA) with one coupon and figured this had to be too good to be true. I brought it up the register, making smalltalk with the cashier, and he couldnt ring it in right.. he called up the manager, a girl about 21, and she said I needed to have the laptop to install it. I was like, cant I just bring it in later, and she said let me check. so she went to the geek desk and the guy there said that was fine and that it was basically free. he also said someone else had used the coupon that day as well. so back off to the cashier where the manager rane it in and it came out to zero. she didnt give it a second look and i said, would you mind if I came back with a couple more coupons? she laughed and said she didnt care! hot dog!!! I came back with 3 more and they put them through no problem!! I now have 2gb of laptop ram!! sweeeet!!!!!!!!

I went to my BB in San Antonio, TX. Gave them the coupon, the nerd pulled a copy up from under the desk that said "Computer Purchase Required." I gave referrence number, asked for manager. He came out and essentially said "Next in line please." I was on my lunch break and didn't want to fight.... annoyed now cause my lappy could be performing faster

Went to the BB in Clackamas, OR - Didn't work there and I didn't have time to argue, they said someone else tried it earlier, but BB wouldn't include the Install in the -$90...
Went to the BB In Portland, OR (Airport) - this time didn't show coupon first. Asked for K-Byte ram and install, and I also bought a OptiCloth so the total wouldn't be $0. Then gave coupon as he was ringing it up. He kept looking at the coupon and back to the regester with a very confused expression. I asked whats wrong and he said this can't be right. I detailed what the coupon said and told him that it scanned in and I can't fake that.
He had to check with the manager - came over and also looked confused. Asked where I got the coupon - told him it is on the BestBuy.com... Told the geeksquad guy to go ahead and ring it up. Kid at the register was amazed, I told the kid that I would give him a coupon if he rang up another one for me. His manager said one per person, so I went out to the car and grabbed my son. Waited in line and the kid behind the counter comes up to me and say the manager is calling the district manager to check into this.
(Breath) Long story short I was able to get another one, but the kid said he would not be able to do any more or he might lose his job. And if that particular manager is around he will not allow any more (He has very short hair - shaved with a little stubble, and beard/goatee) . So if you want to try there make sure he is not working...

I just got off of the phone with Best Buy. I wanted to call first. They stated that ALL stores ARE REQUIRED TO ACCEPT this coupon!!!!!! That a memo went to ALL stores!!!! IF the do not, have them call and reference the original case number. They ring it up along with ringing up the installation and take off the coupon. So have your cell phone ready!

Im on my way today....I just need some for my own use anyway.

Ok - went to the Fairfield Ca. store. People were awesome!!!! They didnt have the notebook memory in stock so I got the K-Byte - 256MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM Memory for 29.99 got 2 of them plus installation which they didnt make me use. Then needed a backpack for my son so bought one that was origionally 29.99. They used one coupon for all of it and I paid 9.99 + tax. They let my son do it right after me. They don't know when they are getting in any more laptop memory but they did it without any problem other than needing the number to ring in the installation and letting me waive the installation.

GREAT people there! They say they had not seen it before.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh forgot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! made one more call to themain office before I went because a friend in Min said they refused to honor it after actually talking to the main office. CALL and talk to them and let them know you are going!!! then tell them at the store you already called ahead of time! See if that helps.

What you really have to do when they refuse is wip out your cell, dial up CSR, and have the BB CSR person talk to the sales person/manager at the store. They'll be speechless ;)

I just called my two local best buys (Tukwila, WA and Bellevue, WA) both said they would NOT accept the coupon without the purchase of a new computer. I even cited the case number and told them the CSR's said the HAD to take it but both refused. I am kicking myself because I used this coupon on Monday at the Tukwila store to get the 160GB Seagate for $20 AR but I did not even know or think about the ram. *SIGH* I think I am going to call the BB at Northgate but I bet they will give me the same line.

-spike

*EDIT* Just called 888 best buy and the CSR said the stores where correct, this coupon is no longer accepted. As long as the store has the new "correct" coupon posted they are no required to accept the old one. Bummer for my sis-in-law, that 512 was for her 500m. Ah well.

yay! I got my 5 sticks...after I went to 3 BB stores. One didn't have the memory and wouldn't do the deal without my laptop. The second one let me have the free 512 stick after arguing for about an hour with the manager. The third BB I went to, I was with my brother and we got 4 sticks because they guy was really cool. The moral is, if you find the right places and the friendly people, you can do it!

Actually, they have. I lost out on two $30 MIR's because I was lied to.

But, that doesn't mean I'm going to be selfish by overdoing a hot deal that clearly was a mistake in verbage on their part with the coupon. I'll take advantage of it, but I will also only take what I can use and leave some for someone else to get.

Just like great HD deals. It pisses me off when a HD deal comes up, and I go to get one because I want a big HD to store movies on in my HTPC, and there are none left. Then I come to FW or AT and find out somebody raped the only store in my area and bought every single drive and is going to sell them on ebay for profit.
