Dear ATOT,

Recently my old TV; Sony Trinitron crapped out. I purchased a new GE TV for around $80. I hooked it up late last night, then realized it didn't come with any audio/video imput. Therefore to hook up my DVD player I need to use the AV/RF modulator again. I was winging it since I have misplaced the DVD operator's manual and the TV manual obviously doesn't have the info required to hook it up. Right now I am stuck because I know I am missing something. When I turn on the DVD player, I am getting only the blue screen but can't see the picture. What is it that needs to be switched around?

This is the front view... there is a spare piece of coax lying on the top of the modulator unit that came from my old TV's setup. View from the back.

The main cable source I have hooked up to the AV/RF mod unit where it says "antenna". The TV plays fine. As you can see I have the colour-coded cables hooked up to the corresponding areas on the DVD player.

Any help appreciated.

UPDATE...

lol, I turned the TV to ch. 3 and it WORKED without me having to rearrange the setup. rofl, thanks to rage and jpeyton for your help.

Run the cable box to the DVD player, then you the RF out on the dvd player to the tv.

There should be an option on the dvd remote for AUX, which would be the cable box.

TV should be on channel 3 or 4 and you should also find a AUX input option in the menu.

I thought that was an old concept? Newer TVs as far as I know don't require this...

It has nothing to do with it being an old concept or anything, it's stricly dependent on if you're using your coax-in (the big silver connection you're plugging your RF adapter into).

Now if you had separate video inputs with RCA jacks, then you'd need to set the TV to a different vid input
