I you walk along any main road within a few miles of fast food places, the main component of litter along the road is fast food wrappers. So, logically, the people are unwrapping their food from the paper wrappers and rewrapping it in aluminum foil to keep it warm til they get home, right?

And, back to that study - there have been all sorts of unexpected conclusions from people whose research sets out to have a particular conclusion. E.g., omg, plants growing in a room with a wifi router die, and plants in rooms without wifi routers thrive.

I don't understand how people can throw trash out of their window. I constantly pick up beer cans out of my front ditch. So not only are they most likely DUIing around, they also don't give a crap about society and wantonly through their garbage anywhere they please.

hahahaa.......rofl@all those who said noway -- the guy had to be swerving or driving erratically!!

NO!! The cop had it hard for this guy..plain and simple!!

MAN EXONERATED --A man who was cited for distracted driving in Georgia when a police officer saw him eating a cheeseburger while behind the wheel has been vindicated, the Associated Press reported.

The police officer in question, whose name has not been released, cited Cobb County's distracted driver law.

Cobb County Solicitor General Barry Morgan said in a written statement Friday that his office submitted a dismissal of the case against Madison Turner, and a judge signed it. Morgan said the state didn't believe it had the evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, given the facts and circumstances his office investigated, according to AP.

"Maybe I was enjoying the burger too much. I needed to tone it down,” driver Madison Turner told ABC affiliate WSB-TV last month. “I was certainly willing to do so but I didn’t expect to be fined or punished.”

Turner's attorney earlier said he expected the ticket to be overturned because many drivers, himself included, eat and drive.

"I’ve only seen something like this charge when there’s an accident,” attorney William Head said to WSB-TV. “There was no accident here, so the fact that this man was charged with eating and driving is a first for me.”

Charges dropped against man cited for eating while driving

The officer explained to me that he observed me eating a burger for 2 miles,” Madison said. “He said specifically three times, 'You can’t just go down the road eating a hamburger.'”

According to a signed order on Friday, the Cobb County solicitor general said they would not prosecute the case, saying, “Based upon the officer’s good faith belief that the defendant committed a ‘non-cited’ traffic offense while eating and driving, the State believes the officer had probable cause to issue the relevant citation.

However, the Solicitor General elects to reduce the charge to a warning.”

Imagine that, it was reduced to a warning. According to some of the major police haters in the forum that never happens and anyone that claims it's happened to them is lying to make the police look better.

Exactly. The cops were totally awesome here to reduce it to a warning, totally proving people wrong who hate police thuggery, brutality, and immunity for evil deeds.

Oh, wait. The cops didn't do that. It was the solicitor general who did it. The cops fought to the very end to make this an expensive ticket for doing something exactly as dangerous as reaching down to shift a manual transmission. The thing he did is probably something the cops themselves do repeatedly on and off duty. How is this case a counterexample to the major police haters in the forum again?

It was reduced to nothing!!The case was totally dismissed!! More Cowan news, huh??

You all can`t have it both ways!
Iether the cop was right or the cop was wrong!
I see no in between!

With that said -- The Hamburger guy was 100% totally correct and according to my source the charges were totally 100% dropped!

So where does this misguided mindset come from that claims the Hamburger guy was slapped on the wrist?

Is it because you want to portray the Police as well not exactly being wrong, yet they are in no way correct in this instance!

Oh, he was given a warning!! No he was not!!
The cops were wrong!! Suck it up and man up!!

I don't really care one way or the other. I drive in Atlanta, and I'd love it if the cops started pulling over the people who are literally staring down at their phones on the highway.

It should be legal for drivers to be able to throw hammers at cars that are being operated by people texting instead of driving. I'd have a burlap bag of hammers for those f-heads.

There is a real problem in our country wqith Police abuse of powers...etc

Gotta Love all the pro-Police people who insisted that this man had to be doing something wrong in order to get a ticket for JUST eating a Hamburger!!

This reasoning by the attorney is pretty bad. Lots of people have blood alcohol levels above .08 and drive, too. So why don't we only charge them when they actually have an accident and/or run over a pedestrian?

The answer is that "extraneous" behaviors/conditions which are highly correlated with accidents probably should be illegal. And if eating while driving qualifies (and I don't know one way or the other if it does), then it should be a chargeable offense, just like talking on a hands-occupied mobile devide is a chargeable offense.

again there was no evidence to support the officer who wrote the ticket....get it??
All charges dropped....that's pretty simple!!

Charges that are legitimate and easily provable are dropped all the time.

This just in! Police and Prosecutors too lenient, not upholding the law!

The problem with what you said was you are making yourself look foolish --

I will repeat this --

The state did NOT believe it had evidence to prove the cASE BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT.....

Is English your first language? I'm not trying to disrespect you, but I am in no way inserting my foot into my mouth, to use yet another analogy.

The government, both State and Federal, will drop charges against people even though there is plenty of evidence to convict. For a variety of reasons. Because it isn't worth it in terms of resources used. Because the case is old and a statute of limitations has run out. Because the defendant pleas out. Because the prosecutor just doesn't care enough.

Not to mention, you don't seem to understand the difference between a civil and criminal penalty. Proving something beyond a reasonable doubt is a criminal law burden of proof. In the case you are discussing, I believe it was just a civil penalty, meaning that the prosecutor had an even lesser burden of proof, which is a preponderance of the evidence.

And of course, it doesn't matter, because cops make mistakes all of the time. They write tickets for things that aren't civil or criminal violations. It doesn't make them a bad cop. And it in no way, shape, or form proves that most cops are bad.
