yea the new one has no firewire, but who really used it anyway? i like the built in remote and network adapter, think that's worth the moeny, but what i'm wondering is will they drop the price down to xbox levels? since i don't think sony expected MS to match the $20 price cut. how can a 3 yearold console cost more than a 1.5 year old?

if i have a choice between gates and that japanese overpriced freak, ill rather choose bill, its a more expensive piece of hardware anyway, and for games that's totally personal preference anyway.

has anyone actually gotten one of these new ps2's? I've heard that the ones in the stores right now are actually just old ones with a network adapter, but no infrared or remote, and they still have the iLink port. but sony put em in new packaging and calls it the Online Pack. if this is true, that's pretty lame. wonder when the REAL new version will be out...

That was with the Xbox, this guy sold an X box: a box with a huge X on it. It came with "wires" and a remote controller.

Naw, there was a PS2 one also. Auction title was something like "PLAYSTATION 2 NEW BOX PS2, NR, BLAH BLAH" and was, indeed, just the box.

You're right. I checked out the ones at Fry's (after I took mine back) and they all seem to be OLD Playstation 2 models! They are NOT the new ones. They simply have the network adapter included. The fan was super loud and no progressive scan. At least Fry's took it back w/out issue.
