This would bring the 2001 to about $415 or so plus shipping & tax (assuming stackable coupons?)

EDIT: Or is the 2001 $699 regular?

I am very interested in the 2005fp or 2001fp. Only thing is I cant see them sitting next to each other. The widescreen seems like the smarter choice to me, but my brother thinks I get "less real estate". I want the best bang for my buck. I am currently using a 1800fp how would these 2 compare?

Woo....I will wait and see if the 2001 could go down to $415 :)
That's the best price.

I had the same problem. My old primary monitor was a 1800fp and I wanted to upgrade to a 20". At first I wanted the 2001 but changed my mind after seeing the 2005 was able to rotate (I use it for coding 8-10 hours/day). Now I have 2 2005fpw for my main monitors. I'm waiting for another great deal on the 2005's and I'll get a third. Having 60" of desktop space will be wonderful.

I think the 2001 and 2005 have recently been listed with a "regular" price of $749. The top E&A coupon is off of $750 so you would have to add something else to the cart. I looked around and the cheapest things in the E&A section are between $10 - $11.

It is subjective, there is no right or wrong answer because it depends what is important to you and how you will be using it. Widescreen is definitely better for watch movies (widescreen). However, your brother is correct that the widescreen has "less real estate". The basic differences are:

Model...................2001....................2005
Resolution........1600x1200...........1680x1050
Contrast Ratio..... 400:1..................600:1

I personally favor the widescreen, and it *might* be more 'future proof'.

I dont use my computer for much movie watching, however there is a Widescreen feature on WOW that i am interested in. Not sure how many different games take advantage of widescreen. That resolution difference doesnt seem to be a Huge size difference.

Thanks for the intelligent input.

I dunno. I bought a 2005 last weekend, and the coupons weren't stackable. However, I got mine today and there are 2 dead pixels and serious backlight bleed. I may have to return this one and get a replacement.

I used a mouse pad as filler. Kensington blue wrist pillow or something like that. It's garbage. There is also a usb cable that is $10.

I am IN on a 2001FP, I missed the last deal for ~460 + tax. Anything close to that and I'm buying.

Thanks OP.

Edit - Is that Central Standard Time, in regards to the availability? Any idea how fast these going to go?
