Dude if you really want the samsung 191t but it. I see it on pricewatch for $792 shipped. It has your portrait feature. But I warn you, this monitor has severe gray level ghosting that is more than 25ms. Read up on it in the artechnica forum

That's the thing, I'd really like the portrait feature but I have all sorts of dell coupons and it isn't worth $100+ to me. I'm just thinking that maybe the replacement stand wouldn't be that much.

Wow, I'm stunned!! I ordered my Dell 1900fs on Friday (11/8) at 7:30pm and it just arrived this morning!! It had a dell order status of "by or before 11/21. The only thing I did differently was that I ordered it over the phone. $695 total. I'm taking it out of the box now.

Kudos to dell shipping!!

I ordered one Friday night too but then decided to cancel the order because I found some better coupons. I called up Saturday morning and they told me they'd try to cancel it but it wasn't being shipped directly from Dell so it might not happen. Does anyone have any experience with Dell returns like this?

<== Hoping that the second, Saturday morning order comes today, tomorrow at the lastest.

Damn, I shoulda called my order in. I placed the order online Thursday evening, and still haven't received the 2nd e-mail from Dell. This sucks, I guess I'm just expecting NewEgg's turnaround of 25 seconds for them to complete an order :)

Where was your monitor shipped from? I ordered on Thursday and my monitor shows as shipped on Friday but "in transit to local carrier" without a tracking number or anything.

Alluu,

Mine was shipped from TX and I live in GA. Mine showed "in transit to carrier" the whole time as well. I'm anxious to get it hooked up but work is keeping me busy. My new graphics card (w/DVI) hasn't even arrived so I'll have to settle with analog for now.

Argh! how long did it take you guys to get the 2nd e-mail confirm? I just got the order acknowledgement e-mail but haven't received the confirmation one yet. When I go to my account at Dell.com, it says no order history. I think Dell is purposely holding off my order b/c they got so many orders on this monitor....gonna call them today if they haven't sent my confirm e-mail, but I ordered Thursday evening.

Just got my 19" Dell LCD, what a disappointment when it comes to games.

I tried the original UT (Deck16 map) so much ghosting.. it's almost unplayable, it looks like it's skipping frames to the untrained eyes.
I'm currently using the analog video out, will it better if i use a DVI out? I don't think there be a difference in term of ghosting.

UT2003 is a little better, but it still looks like it's skipping frames (ghosting).
I'm gonna play with this LCD for a week or two then send it back to dell.
I had the KDS Radius 15c, and there was no ghosting at all on that 15" LCD.

Yes Tycoonx I am current recommending gamers to NOT buy this LCD for severe gray level ghosting that is undocumented. Consider yourself warned.

I don't know but I'm a big gamer and I haven't seen much ghosting on it. I've been playing CS and UT2K3 without any problems so far.

I saw less ghosting in ut2k3 cause it's more colorful than the greyish tone in the original UT.

BTW: what are using for a video card? and are u using DVI?

The ghosting got a little better after i used it for an hour. but u could definately still tell there are ghosting, if I move my mouse quickly it shows the trailing mouse.

Man...is Dell's online ordering system messed up or what? I ordered on Thursday, still haven't seen the 2nd confirmation e-mail with delivery date, have no order history on their site, and my debit/check card hasn't been charged....yet I'm staring at the monitor as I'm typing this . Weird.

In any case, I haven't tried running any games on it yet, so I'll let you guys know. So far so good though, picture quality is awesome, no geometric warping, no off-tones and no dead pixels. I'm gonna fire up WC3, SoF2, 3dmark2k1 and UT2K3 demo and see how it goes.

By the way...what color is your bezel? Mine's silver, but I thought they were black???

Maybe if you're lucky, it'll stay that way ;).

All I can say is that when I ordered when this thread started, shipment was overnight but that was to be expected since Dell is about 70 miles north of here.

Those of you having ghosting/image issues...did you guys load the 9000FP hardware driver off the disc and do an autoadjust? Image quality definitely improved as it was recognized as "digital" rather than "plug and play monitor" in win2k. Not sure if WinXP does this automatically.

I'm loving the monitor so far, only beef I can think of is the 1280 max resolution in games. Not an issue for Windows desktop or apps, but I'm used to running WC3 in 1600x1280x32 and now I can't anymore :( Guess I'll just have to crank up AA :D

I load the inf driver off the CD, so winxp recognized it as a Dell 19" LCD. How do u an auto adjust?

Duh...there is no auto adjust on DVI. Auto adjust only applies if you are using RGB. On DVI, all adjustments are disabled except brightness.

Hey all,

I realize that this post is not going to be a popular one, especially with Fant ;) , but someone needs to defend this fine, no awesome, flat panel.

I freakin love this panel. I have had this panel for over a month now and don't have any regrets. I am a pretty well versed gamer, and play a decent amount of games on my home machine, both a mix of FPS and RPGs. I also have a friend that has two of these panels who is a hardcore FPS gamer. We both love these panels and don't have any problems at all gaming on them, in fact we love it!

There is a response time issue with greys on the 1900FP. However, the only time that I have actually seen this cause ghosting is in NOLF2 and Freedom Force. Other than that I have played: Unreal Tourn 2K3, Jedi Knight II, RTCW, Serious Sam SE, Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Siege, DOOM III, etc. and have never experienced any ghosting. The picture is crisp, clear, bright and ghost free.

This is all a matter of opinion of course. If you are never going to be satisfied with an LCD display and are looking hard for any sign of ghosting at all, you are going to find it. However, unless you absolutely can't stand a little ghosting in certain apps, this panel rocks! The little ghosting that I have seen is very minor even in NOLF2 and Freedom Force. I rarely see it, and when I do it is very minor. My friend with the 1900FPs feels the same way, he is also in love with the panel.

If you are an extremely picky user who will be driven insane by the slightest hint of ghosting, I would not get this panel, or any other LCD panel for that matter. However, if you are looking for an exceptional panel that will give you bright colors, sharpness, no headaches after a few hours of looking at the screen, etc. I would highly recommend this baby.

Let the rants begin...

Its one of the buttons on the front panel. Takes like 5 seconds. I noticed it gets rid of the black/grey "sunburst" pattern that was originally evident when looking at dark backgrounds and makes colors more vibrant. I never really noticed any ghosting when running 3dmark2k1 or SoF2, but it may help for what you are experiencing.

G'luck

Fant: I'm running straight DVI from my Ti4200 Turbo, and when I hit the auto adjust button, it definitely auto adjusted itself. Maybe you should try to fix the problem instead of trying to "be" the problem.
