Newegg has the same price on the bigger drives, but is more expensive for the smaller ones.

Example: Crucial M4 256GB SSD for $340: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...1712-_-EMC-011712-Index-_-SSD-_-20148443-L04D

Dead deals mentioned in this thread:

Corsair Performance Pro is now dead:

This is a new SSD from Corsair, sporting a Marvell controller and reliable 34nm NAND. It's just behind the Sandforce drives in performance, but may avoid some of the downsides people have been experiencing with the SF Gen. 2 drives. It's $400 - 10% Code (HARDOCPX1X4C) - $30 rebate, making it $330, which is a steal for a high-end 256GB SSD. At least $35 less than the Crucial and Samsung competition.

Here's are some very positive reviews of the drive:

tried it and says no stacking coupons the deal must be dead.

There are no coupons to stack. It's just 1 code, and then a mail in rebate. While I am not buying this drive (just bought 2 120GB SSDs and can't afford to buy a 3rd), I added it to my cart and the code applied just fine to bring the total down to $359 pre-rebate.

Did they up the pre-code price by $10? In the shopping cart after applying the code it's showing $364.99-$15 = $349.99.

Hmmm. Maye I'm just a tightwad but I am actually debating on biting, even though I've been waiting for months to get this drive for a similar deal (back when it was $330).

Looks like they raised the price this afternoon. Thanks for catching that. OP updated.

M4 back down to $345 AC. I was actually all set to order it till I read those reviews on the corsair drive. While I think it would be hard to go wrong with the M4 that corsair looks like it may be THE drive to get.

OP updated for price change. Seems like it's going to shifting around a lot.

It's true that the Corsair drive looks like a heck of a product. That's why I originally posted it (and that's why I bought it). But I think that was an introductory promotion, to get it into people's hands...it's really more of a $400 drive, when you compare it to the competition, not a $330 drive.

superbiiz is starting to p1ss me off. First they keep changing the price. Now, when trying to check out I am getting a pop up window say "item not for sale, please check it again". Even though it is listed as in stock.

Update: after repeated attempts, I was finally able to complete the order. So big thanks to termie for finding yet another way to part me from my money :p

How good a deal is this, and any idea when better/cheaper is coming?

You can see for yourself here:

Soon after the drive came out, there was a special code bringing it down to $333, but that was a one-time, exclusive deal. Since then it's hovered around $380.

Not a lot of news on upcoming SSDs. Prices have been pretty stagnant on 240/256GB drives. Most of the attention has been on drive failures, and the M4 is not immune: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5424/crucial-provides-a-firmware-update-for-m4-to-fix-the-bsod-issue

IMHO I think these drives will keep dropping. I think with the volume ramp up of the standard HDD now that that flooding issues are resolved I think the prices will continue to drop. I do think this is a nice, quick bump down in price and believe we will see prices continue to drift down.

IMHO, I think these drives will fall to near $1/gig.... exactly when? well I don't know, I'll say within 6 months -> but that is just a guess.

If you need a drive now, I think this a good deal.

I completely agree with Zivic that these drives will continue to drop in price. The flooding is only helping customers look towards other avenues than traditional HDD's. It's definitely important to note that the larger capacity drives tend to lag behind their smaller counterparts, which I'm guessing is based on demand and economies of scale. So, I wouldn't hold out too long if a decent deal comes along (read: this).

BTW -- I pulled the trigger on this yesterday! :)

Ugh, I so want 2x 128 gb m4's in a striped RAID array... But I'd need to get a new mobo/proc to get SATA 6.0 as well, which would make it a $600-700 proposition. And at that point I should get a new video card to replace my 5850... Guess there is no reason to spend the money when I don't have performance complaints currently anyways right?
