It looks like a decent deal for the two together.

Linked

The video card is a MSI, 8X AGP 128MB w/DVI and S-video out . The 15" LCD is a "de-branded" Fujitsu with only a digital input. Their definition of non-defective in terms of dead pixels is rather "liberal" to say the least, so be warned (as someone below pointed out). Don't have any specs yet. I'll edit if I can find them.

Neither the card nor the LCD are listed as refurb.

Shipping was $14 for the slowest ground to the northeast.

not to thread crap, just to warn other people if they dont read it carefully is that the LCD is already pre-warned to have multiple "bright and dark spots" as well as other "minor imperfections."

another quick note is that from personal expierence, my MSI Geforce 4 MX (when it first came out) did not perform as i wanted it to. My brother also purchased this same exact card as I did a couple years back, and both of ours burned out after only 1/2 year to a year. hopefully that was just a rare case scernario, and MSI has improved their quality in their video cards?

other than that, i would say that this is quite a great deal for anyone needing a "rare" combo as this one

Actually, the warning on the bright and dark spots and the dead pixel specs are their general warning that they put on all the LCDs they sell, and not necessarily specific to this panel. However, as I said previously, their definition of acceptable is a bit wider than others have. If dead pixels bother you to no end, you may want to steer clear.

# 15-inch:
# Total Defects: 6
# Bright or Dark Dots (random): 3
# Bright or Dark Dots (2 adjacent): 1
# Bright or Dark Dots (3 adjacent): 0
# Minimum distance between defects: 15 mm (bright to bright dots; 5 mm (dark to
# dark dots)

I don't see this as "liberal." 6 bad pixels is a very, VERY common "standard" for bad pixels on LCDs. I think this is a fantastic deal. Now just to find a review on this particular LCD to see if it is any good!

compgeeks is pretty conservative with theil refurb monitors ... I bought a grade A refurb 17in monitor from them ... and it looked like it was brand spanking new. I have bought some B items from them as well, never had a ploblem.

Geeks are pretty good about returns.

OMG, has h@ll completely frozen over! My last dealing with the Geeks was admittedly over a year ago and it was the most painfull of any RMA (bottom line they wouldn't even RMA a completely DOA motherboard and I'm a technician I know a dead motherboard when I see one) experiences I have ever encountered. I am not alone by a long shot as many others would agree. If they have changed their ways good for them but if not screw them and the horse they rode in on. Sorry, just blathering for now.

Yeah, my recent return experience after they sent the wrong part was a pain... took two weeks to get a replacement... plus they never responded about my DOA video card.

pretty cold I'd say
Geeks are pretty good about returns.
My only return was pretty sh!tty had to have CC reverse the charges lost money will not shop again but that is a bad price.

This is now down to $299 plus shipping. 🙂 As you can see from the opinions above though, Compgeeks can be somewhat hit or miss. :frown:
