UPDATED!!! 2933 at default voltage!!!

Lifer
i just got my 2.4 ES unlocked p4 i bought from fs/ft forum. its running 2800 at default voltage, on a asus p4s333-m. OH MAN, if only i had voltage tweaks.

pc mark results at 2800mhz (533 fsb) with micron pc2100 ddr @ pc2700 cl2.5 are. i tried to run the chip at 166 fsb, and well my mobo wont boot, its only an sis 645 chipset not the dx, so i think i was pushing my luck.

CPU 6834
memory 5881
disk 898

just for fun i ran it at 8x133 also 1066. i probably could get away with no fan at this speed..... its not really THAT bad, for like normal web stuff and office stuff, which is what i use it for 99.5% of the time.

UPDATE, i just hit 2933, but my 250 watt power supply is dying on me. it locks up randomly when the voltage drops below 1.4 volts core for more thana split second.

screenshot of the madness

its 1280x960 so its pretty big.

3066 does not post however 🙁 but hopefully it'll work with a new leadman500 watt power supply from compgeeks. hotdeal btw. MWAHAWHAHAHAHA this project is beginning to be expensive... but well, its totally worth it for the sake of uh... science.

The wire mod should work on that chip. It would give you 1.7vcore. Might be able to hit 3G with that voltage.

yeah i've done the wire mod before.

2800 is the highest i've tried, my heatsink is at like 60-61C at load (arcticcooling tc4 silent temp sensing fan). i think i'll go try and get a better heatsink so i can try it at 2933 or 3066.

i bought it in fs/ft

now i can make neat graphs on CPU scaling with a p4. ANANDTECH CANT EVEN DO THAT!!! mwahahaha

My 2.4 E/S didn't overclock well either. I am building my second one tonight and hopefully will have better luck. I really havn't tried all that hard though. Hey Wingznut another year and we get another one. I have the advantage that my wife works there also. a p2 350, 2 xeon 400's, 2 p3 1 gig, and now 2 p4 2.4s. Gotta love it.

instead of an es i want a fs 😉(free sample)ya i know i got the 2.4b at release the hard way🙂

but still looking for the fs

well it just passed 9 hours of prime 95 stress testing. 2933 locked up after 10 minutes of prime95. just hard lock, had to shut off power. i dont know what that is, it was in the 63C range, but at this point, i'm not sure if my 250 watt power supply is handling it.

this chip is scaring me. i think its some sort of special chip.

I still haven't "claimed" mine yet. I have a couple of good friends who never take advantage of the program, so I just borrow theirs.

I obviously haven't worked there as long as you... I only have an unlocked 866mhz CuMine and a locked 1.2/512k Tualatin (in addition to the 2.4's).
I think I'll wait for the next offering. 😉

Like my two boys, they're ALL special in their own way. 😉

It is.... (Remember? It's unlocked! 😉) I wish my 2.53 was unlocked...it can overclock to 2.85GHz at default voltage, but that's as high as my motherboard's FSB goes (150MHz) 🙁.

Anyway, how much did it cost you? It sounds like a sweet deal, no matter how much you paid for it!

hans has the perfect opportunity to use his chip to further mankind by running it at the 667fsb and lower clock multipliers.... a test which would give us an indication of the future! 😀

hans006,your a weasel😀.I seen that CPU for sale in the FS/FT forum and was thinking about grabbing it.It was there for a little while too.I wasn't sure how well it would O\C but now I know🙁

i tried it at 667 and my board wouldnt post. i'm gonna try again in a bit.

yeah i saw it and a day after, i PMd him. i had figured someone else had bought it before but i guess not, so i just said what the hell i'll give it a shot.

i just gave it another shot. seems my power supply can barely take this anymore...

CPU is now at 22 x 133. default voltage. my power supply is barely coping, vcore has dropped to 1.44 volts (sometimes drops to 1.42 sometimes 1.46 ) according to asus probe.

250 watts not gonna cut it at these speeds. I AM STILL AT DEFAULT!!! its actually stable running prime95 at ~ 1.44 volts
the voltage has been flying around wildly. stays around 1.44 , been down to 1.39 up to 1.47. i need abetter power supply.

my 12 volt rail has slipped to 11.78 also.

prime95 has been running for half an hour... core temps are hitting 60 to 61C. amazingly my temps at 2933 INSIDE a cramped microatx case, are similar to my temps in open air sitting on the floor. 2800 is at about 57C load now in the case.
screenshot

hmm if this is a preview of what Intel has got to show us all, well damn AMD better have something up their sleeves.

I just ordered a 500 watt from compgeeks. So by thursday i should be able to see if that is my problem.

I just ordered a 510 watt antec from newegg. So by thursday i should be able to see if that is my problem.

Thats an amazing OC!!!!! Yeah the PSU has low watts and the rails are diping too low 🙁 IF you can grab a new case and antec true power PSU 😉 Thats the ticket

SSXeon

you should really try it on a better mobo wiht o/cing options and a much better psu...maybe you can wack that beast up to 3.2GHz...
oh yeah...get a better heatsink ...and a fan is a must...don't want to hear you ended up with a burn chip...knocking on wood...🙂

Who sold you that chip? I bet that guy's sorry.

And BTW, where do you get unlocked chips? I'd love to have one.
