Exactly

Apple and Apple fans have only themselves to blame for how huge this became.

Rightttt

Its only the fans that have iPhones. You're right though. The iPhone is so badass that everyone wanted one, and they only have themselves to blame for making it so badass.

Umm ok think what you want buddy. If you haven't noticed, Apple themselves always play up every release they have of any Apple product as the biggest and next best thing. There's nothing wrong with them making it the biggest thing out there, it's called marketing but when something goes wrong with it, you have to expect there to be a big hoopla about it because there was already big hoopla about it when it was working. I find it funny that you guys are shocked that there's a big hoopla about it when there's something seriously wrong with it. For you guys, it's only ok to play it up when it's working well, but when it's not, most of you guys get so defensive. Like said before, only have Apple and Apple fans to blame for this huge hoopla.

Then: "This changes everything. Again"

Now: "Phones aren't perfect. It's a challenge for the whole industry. Every phone has weak spots."

:awe:

Ya OK "buddy"

I didn't have a problem without a case, I certainly don't have one with it. So yea its a little shocking that 1.7% of people returned it but APple had to have a press conference because the media is out of control. Anyone who runs around with $700-800 phone they use all day without protection can cry, or return the phone.

I'm not a cry baby, if something doesn't work the way I want when I bought it - I take it back like a normal human being. Oh but I forgot, the only people crying don't own the phone except NFS4 who isn't returning it either so......

Now if they didn't accept returns without a restocking fee or increase it to 30 days as of 1 week ago instead of 3, it might be different. I would understand the uprising more. But not only have they done all that, they give you a free case too. Seems like a fair deal personally. And most agree with me.

Like has been said many times, you shouldn't need a case for it to not drop signal like that. Apple always plays up the media. The media is out of control on every Apple release so like I said already, of course they're going to be out of control when something that gets played up so much has something wrong with it. If the iPhone release wasn't so big, this wouldn't big as big of a problem.

I agree, you shouldn't "have" to have a case - and if you are unhappy with that "compromise" then you should return it and give a big FU to Steve Jobbers. I say compromise, because again - your are an idiot if you don't get a case for this piece of glass. I've already said all of this as well.

People are entitled though. They want the phone, they want it to work perfectly, and they want it now. Too bad. F off! Return it or STFU. You are not entitled, if you are unhappy then you have all the power here. You can even go to a cheapy for whatever was left of your contract before the iPhone and give AT&T the give FU too and get a droid.

Hopefully this thing will go away now, thats all I have to say.

There you go again. The stats speak for themselves. 1.7% return rate is not something seriously wrong. I would consider something as low as a 10% return rate as 'something seriously wrong'. This is 1/5 that many people.

The bottom line is that for 98% of the users of the new iPhone 4, the problem is not 'something seriously wrong'.

The people who actually own the iPhone 4 have spoken. 98% dont think there is 'something seriously wrong'.

You, someone who does not even own the iPhone 4, thinks there is something seriously wrong. It is the exact opposite of what the vast majority of the people who *ACTUALLY* own the iPhone 4 think. now THAT is something seriously wrong

Haters gonna hate.

You spout out anecdotal evidence so I'm going to. My brother owns one and friends own one. My brother gets dropped calls cus of the way he holds it sometimes but is he going to return it? No because he's an Apple fan and loves the phone. iPhone lovers have always put up with things that the phone lacks to get the iPhone so it's to be expected that they won't return it. iPhone users have put up with AT&T for years and their crappy service just to get the iPhone. It's just a fact that iPhone users are willing to give up a lot and put up a lot just to get the iPhone because it's the iPhone which is fine. Nothing wrong with that.

Hold on, apparently the Bold 9700 has the same issue. Steve said, and it was on a powerpoint slide, so it must be true.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

No it doesn't. Now run along, someone must be missing you from the kindergarten group.

LOL I was kind of kidding but not really. I just think its funny that someone can actually like BlackBerrys so much in these days. They are sooooo antiquated it isn't even funny. Droid and iPhone are superior in every way X 10

I have a buddy who is big into the BB Bold. I think he's more sold on the "enterprise image" than anything else. I guess the iPhone/Droid lines don't have a device in that form factor, but I think it's on it's way out.

Back on topic though, I like Anands solution for the iPhone 4 antenna that uses that special tape... looks flashy too.

"Enterprise image" means what exactly? The layout of the keyboard. A coworker argued the same thing and I could type faster on my iPhone. You just have to get used to it. And please don't tell me a keyboard like on the Droid isn't the same thing. I think it is, "business people" just fear change.

That conductive tape does look awesome but looks like it might take a lot of work to get right. Cut out all the areas and everything

Oh I only mention it because I think it's silly... a portrait slider is better in every way over the Bold form factor, but I think landscape sliders are better form factor for a physical keyboard.

Virtual keyboards are very usable, but personally I'd still like a hardware keyboard if I had an option. I've been using swype lately and it's pretty good, albeit frustrating at times.

Nowhere? The people partaking in schadenfreude long before I mentioned Android in this thread are not Android fans (yourself, jpeyton, senseamp, Cuda1447, Glitchny). That's right, I'm calling all of y'all out D:

ooh I got called out! Yea, I'm a huge Android fan. No, I'm not an Iphone hater. I think the Iphone is a great product. I just think its incredibly limited for a hardcore phone user. My wife loves her. I attribute that to her simplistic nature in using the phone. She texts, she calls... she might web browse here and there. She will play with some fun apps. That's about it.

I do a hell of a lot more on my phone.

I just think, as with anything, you have to get used to it. I didn't even like texting before my iphone and i know girls still on a 9-dig keypad phone who can txt faster then anyone. On my iPhone i can kill it. As fast I think as most with physical keyboards.

Swipe seems like an awesome tech, I sucked at it but I know people who are really good. You just have to get used to it.

Like what exactly? I'm sorry but there is very little you can do on your phone that I can't do on mine. And by very little I mean, very little once I can JB my iphone 4 again.

With my old iPhone, there is very little you can do that I can't.

EDIT: In fact, I have Android 2.1 running on my old iPhone - dual boot. Its pretty cool for the most part

EDIT 2: Here is a link for Mac, a ton easier but need Hackintosh or mac
http://www.redmondpie.com/install-android-on-iphone-3g-2g-with-iphodroid/

here is a link for PC - bit harder but this is how i did it and it works.
