Good point. I don't think most Americans understand that "premium" brands like Merc and BMW make a lot of their money with comparatively cheap cars overseas. Merc sells hundreds of thousands of cheap vans and stripper small sedans in the foreign markets.

Yeh, that was one of the wierd things I noticed when I was in Ireland. You'd see lots of BMW's, Audi's and Mercede's....but they were nuetered. BMW's 523 5 series, A4's with 1.8 N/A engines. A6's with the 2.0L N/A engine. And LOTS of diesels.

Kids have them because mommy and daddy spoil their asses.

BMW losts its special meaning when it came out with the short lived, 318i. I just love to point and laugh at people that bought the sh!tbox known as 318i. Talk about people being badge whores.

I don't know. I didn't like the first pic, that one doesn't look too bad however. The angle of the first pic wasn't very flattering.

I wonder what segment of the market bmw is gearing this car for exactly. Its too pricey for an entry level, the new Golf 2.0 seems like its a better car than this and its 10K cheaper.

Price???
"Expect prices to be about 20 percent less than a 3 Series, putting it in the $25,000 neighborhood. " So, another overpriced underpowered BMW for the must-haves to buy.
Power will come initially from four-cylinder engines only: a 120-hp, 1.8-liter four, a 2.0-liter four with 160 hp, and two diesels at 115 hp and 150 hp. Later on a turbo version of the gasoline four-cylinders delivering 220 hp is expected.
...insiders say pricing for the tubro 220 horserpower version to start at $85,000.
