I just spoke with someone in sales at Outpost. Here's the deal. Basically the mobo manufacturer, ECS, is providing this deal. The Sempron CPUs are part of ECS' inventory and ONLY to be sold with the motherboard. Outpost told me that the have the CPUs in stock, but just can't ship them seperately. He said he could sell me a CPU from the Outpost stock, but the standard price is the same if not more than this combo... So I asked how long it might take for the motherboards to come back in stock. He told me that ECS sends Outpost shipments of 250 at a time, and there is a shipment on the way. The only problem is that they have about 1000 (one thousand) orders to take care of right now. So obviously it is going to take quite a while to get through to those of us who just got on the list....

My plan at the moment is to leave my order in so that I can still maybe get a great deal on this combo when they have the parts ready to ship. If it takes too long, I'll maybe cancel my order, but for now they won't charge my credit card til the order is ready to ship.

I just got a AthlonXP (TBred) 2700+ and ECS K7VTA3 mobo for $80 at Fry's - got them to test the mobo and CPU together before I left the store - didn't want to waste another day on 4 dead CPUs, especially as all of their boards were returns!

Newegg seems to be almost out of Athlons now, they had the 2700+ TBred for $97, so this is a great deal with the [crappy] mobo too.

Looks like this deal is still alive, but may not be in stock. Who knows.

Anyway, I just got an email from Outpost saying mine was shipped. Only took an extra week, I thought it would take longer. 🙂

Are these those boards from ECS, with the Sempron CPUs soldered to the board? Just curious.

Shouldn't be soldered. Based on my order reciept, and the way it was described on Outpost's site and over the phone, it sounds like a retail CPU packaged together with the motherboard.

Looks like a great deal. I just tried to log on and it looks like the server is down. Hopefully it will be back up before too long so I can order one of these!

Seems to me, according to Newegg, that the extra money for the 2500+ is not worth it.

Just called Outpost, almost 300 people in line ahead of me of the back order list. Could take a VERY long time to get, if at all. Didn't bother to order. Still, my brother may.

I think it's a preorder,
could be a wait involved.

I think the processor's $60 on Newegg all by itself.
Sempron on Newegg

Thanks to AngleDust for the Outpost link😀

that is selling for $99.99 not $60, what gives. it looks like the same deal as this $75 with 2400 sempron.
what category are you finding these combos? i only see processors by themselves and mobos by themselves...

combos are listed at the end of cpu list..or at end of motherboard list..so just go to socket a cpu's (or which ever you want) and scroll to end of list..possibly to 2nd or 3rd page.
