I know I sent in all my stuff ...

Didn't get an email... Tried the track via name / search not found came up.

I guess I am screwed. Maybe it got lost in the mail? Sigh. I'm gonna call and ask them ... Sadly I did NOT make copies of reciept or UPC. So, I guess I paid full price for a 200Gig drive.

:(

Anyone else have same problem?

I just looked up my rebate status online and it says my rebate is INVALIDATED BY SEAGATE. I copied EVERYTHING so I'm gonna call those dirty bastards up and ask them WTH is wrong. This pisses me off :|

Mine was invalidated also. I got through to a CSR and all he found out was the same "Invalidated by Seagate" with no reasons. He said he'll escalate it and I should get a response in 7-10 days. So who knows what happened. Maybe just cancelled some hoping we wouldn't call.

This is just the set of responses I was looking for. I ordered a 160 gig Seagate retail drive from Outpost in October and I received TWO cards today stating:

"Unfortunately we could not honor your request due to the following reason(s): 82864 $50 Mail in rebate with purchase of Seagate 160GB ATA hard drive from Fry's Electronics or Out - serial number submitted is not a Seagate retail hard drive serial number".

This is what I ordered and it was definately retail, with cables, books, disks. It's as retail as you can get, same as Best Buy or CompUSA. I emailed Seagates rebate customer service directly today.

I am begining to wonder if all these Seagate drive deals are worth it? I was checking my SMART parameters on my seagate drive, and noticed it had a TON of 'Corrected read errors' & 'Positioning (seek) errors ' All my other drives (WD & Maxtor) have 0 for those parameters, while the seagate has over 10 million errors. While I know that ECC code fixes those for the read errors, it does NOT look good at all. Lucky the drive has a 5yr warranty, looks like I am going to need it. Worst part is it is only been running 68 days. :( Guess it is back to either Maxtor or WD, and now I have to find another 200GB drive to copy my data to.

Got confirmation on rebate last night for the Seagate 200GB purchased back in 12/17/04. Checked status - Your rebate has been entered and is scheduled for final processing. Yay.

I got that same notification 3 months ago :( and going from the other people that submitted the same rebate for a 160GB HD and still haven't received anything, it looks like i'll never get that $50. :frown:

What's the point of a 5 year warranty on a $70 drive? I mean your data is worth far more than $70 and that's the bigger loss if you don't back up your data. In 3 years the drive will be too small to even be worth the space it takes in your system and in the off chance it fails between year 1 and 3 it probably won't cost you more than $50-70 to replace it.

sxr7171, if they say they give 5 year warranties then I expect them to last at least 5 years. They should honor their own warranties regardless if it is a $50 or $500 drive. I still use drives older than 3 years. They have no critical data but work fine for Linux and other testing.

This is a response from Seagate customer service in regard to the $50 160gig drive rebate.

Hello James,
Upon review of the information you sent me I show that this is a rebate that we are not handling. Here is the phone number to the correct rebate center 1-800-753-9823. You will need to get in contact with them to obtain any information on your rebate.

I have called the number and after a long hold it was transfered to a woman with likely an India accent. I read off the number printed on the card below the barcode although she didn't seem to care. She asked to verify my name, address, zip. Then said my rebate check would be mailed in 4-6 weeks. The phone connection was lousy, constantly breaking up, I warned you. They did not want to offer explanations for why they sent the card.

I got my rebate for the 160GB drive in about 3 weeks with no problems. Entirely different story for the 120GB and 200GB drives. I've made multiple calls now to the rebate house and get a "Your rebate has been escalated to the investigation team"... When I ask what this means, they say that the rebate will be processed and paid in 3-4 weeks. However, they won't provide any follow-up number to talk to this "investigation team". Same deal on both the 120GB and 200GB drives. I don't buy any more Diamond video cards and likely won't buy anymore Seagate drives after I get these rebates paid... And I will get them paid.
